RIP Dan Pires 1956-2008
Dan Pires, a Patriots beat reporter for the New Bedford Standard-Times and long time member of Patriots Planet tragically died this morning at the age of 52. He was found unresponsive at the Dartmouth Middle School track this morning, according to Dartmouth police, who said a passerby who administered CPR was unable to revive him.
Dan was an active member of the forums here at Patriots Planet, always with insightful and humorous posts. The entire community here will miss him terribly.
New History and Memorabilia
Sections Now Open!
The long postponed
History and Memorabilia sections are now past their
initial stages, and while not chock full of items
yet, there are some exciting old items to take a
look at. In the memorabilia section you can peruse
the 1965 Boston Patriots Media Guide, and in the
History section you can read a copy of the 1960
Boston Daily Reader previewing the inaugural season
of the Patriots and an article from 1959 talking
about the proposed AFL and hopes for a new franchise
in Boston (which would become the Patriots). Lots
more to come in the future! The links to these two
sections can be found in the column to the left
below Foxboro Weather.
