Heavenly Father, this is starting out to be a rough morning, sin does indeed take it's toll on our bodies. I thank You for the good things in my life, for shelter, food, medication, the where withal to care for my parents in their old age, for the entertainment funds to buy my books and post on the interweb, for Your Word, Your promise of forgiveness through Jesus Christ, for the fellowship of church, for the sacrament of Holy Baptism and the sacrament of the Holy Communion table. I thank You for the healing gifts of our doctors, nurses, physician's assistants, therapists, and all medical workers down to the maintenance people providing a clean, safe environment. I thank You for the care Babalu has been receiving, I ask Your mercy to speed his rehabilitation and recovery to coincide with his insurance's limitations, I ask Your mercy to send him home strong and confident and capable of being the father You want him to be, to raise his children to know You, to love his wife as himself, and to entertain his friends here and elsewhere with the warped humor we all know well. I thank You for life and the promise of life everlasting with You; strengthen the seeds of faith You have planted, let each of us so gifted always turn to Your Word to water and feed this gift, to strengthen our belief, and to encourage us to live our lives as witness to Your love, Your gifts, Your promise, that those who have not heard Your Word may be brought to know Your love for us as witnessed in the life, death, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in whose Name I pray. Amen.

I think and hope so. I am guessing as soon as he gains enough sustained conciousness and use of his hands (good news about the other one), he will find it easiest to communicate using the keypad. Next thing we all know, he will be back!

Bless his rehabilitation and his caregiver's efforts, bless his family with patience and persistence, bless his friends to recall him and his family in their need, bless each and every one of us to know You through Your Word and the comfort of the Holy Spirit within Your Word, and bless us all to faith and belief in Jesus Christ, that we might be saved as You intended. He is missing one hell of a season.

I think I know how he's gonna feel. It's gonna be like that season after our first superbowl where we didn't even make the playoffs the won another 2 in a row. Whole season is a blur to me still....mostly because the Krafts thought it was a good idea to sell Capt. Morgans to the masses. I was a mess for the 8 home games that year...drank a ton of Capt. & Gingers. Thank god they stopped that the following year.

I can just see it now. Someone will try to explain to Babs that the Pats traded Maroney and Moss mid season, beat Miami (in Miami), Baltimore, San Diego (in San Diego), Minnesota (with Randy Moss, just before they cut him) to get to 6-1 and have the #1 record in the league, all with the young defense improving every game.

I bet it will be kinda like this.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your care of our friend taltos, seeing to him even when we were unaware of his need, I rejoice in Your goodness and his recovery; thank You for the caregivers who used Your gifts so well, bless and encourage them to always find their strength in Your Word, that they be sustained in their important work. I ask Your mercy continue for taltos, that he be sustained and encouraged in his rehabilitation, that his family now comforted with his rebound be strengthened to endure his frustrations with fortitude and gladness, that his new caregivers be blessed to fully employ Your gifts to them with the same skill of those who brought our friend through his health scares to this point of recovery. Encourage taltos to further life in Your Word, that he be strengthened to continue his witness of Your love to all who are blessed to know him. Thank You Lord for Babalu's progress, I ask You mercy continue to strengthen and heal him, and strengthen his family in their endurance. And especially thank You Lord, that my lab results preclude these two mild mannered and soft spoken gentlebeings (taltos and Babalu, just in case I'm confusing You with that description) from sharing adjoining beds with me on game day, you know why, please strengthen me to resist that language, and the not so welcome infection from my own procedures. Help us to abide in Your Word, and through it to always know You as our strength until the day we are returned to Your home through the forgiveness and love of our Lord and Redeemer Jesus Christ, in whose Name I pray. Amen.
