Random Jets Stuff Thread

If I were HC of the NYJs Teddy Bridgewater would start, McCown as #2.

I'd have Darold hold the clipboard all year.

This is not a team that's a QB away from something special. Risking this guys future so they can go 6-10 instead of 4-12 would be a huge mistake.

They’ll waive Bridgewater.

Bill will scoop.

TBII.

That's funny.

My nickname for him at Louisville was The Black Brady.

That is exactly how he played there. Smart, decisive, quick reads and he read the field like few college guys you see.

I'll never forget watching him almost single-handedly beat a far more talented Florida Gators in the 2013 Sugar Bowl. I'd become a fan of his before that game, but that one sold me that he was going to be a fine pro. He picked that D, which was full of future draft picks, apart and was one step ahead of them all night while under heavy pressure. Boom. MVP.

That hasn't materialized yet, despite some success, but I'm still not convinced that he can't be a good one if he could stay healthy and was allowed to run a system that suit his talents for a while and had at least some viable NFL skill players to throw at-- something he really hasn't had yet.

If we could get him I'd be elated. We could win games with him if we had to and we cannot with the guy that is currently holding the backup job. Bridgewater could run the McDaniels system. No doubt.

And ideally Tom plays another year. If he’s grabbed at roster cut downs it’d give him 1 1/2 yrs to get fully up to speed with Josh.

It would alleviate a major concern AND be very competitive at the same time.

i was coming here to say I’d give a 4th for him

Can you imagine the Jets brass reacting to that trade request?
First reaction, No way
Second reaction, total confusion, Do we keep / promote TB?

No way they'd trade Bridgewater to the Pats. If they think Darnold can play this year, keep McCown or Bridgwater and trade the other for a low draft pick, but not within the division.

So said team trades a 5-7 for TB.

Bill calls said team.

Gives the comp 3 we get for Butler.

We get our QB and further Fvck the J-E-T-E by having them take an even lower pick.

BB could have signed Bridgewater...no picks to give up. Why didn't he?
Good question. Hoyer had just signed for cheap money and could have been cut with minimal dead money. Bridgewater signed for $5 mil for one year as a backup to McCown. I'm betting he would have gone to the Pats for that money.

Pats could still get Bridgewater next year when he's a FA, assuming he doesn't sign a long term deal.

Anyone know why the Jets are shopping him? Or is this just a media/fan speculation thing?

If I were the Jets, i'd keep him for the year.

Hoyer is playing for a little less than 1.5M a year, so he's less than a third as expensive as Bridgewater.

However, that couple of Mil isn't going to look like much if Hoyer ever has to play.

So, what is it worth to allow your fanbase to still have some hope if your No. 1 goes down?

Personally, I would have been happy enough to have Brissett on the bench. At least I could feel like he has a chance to improve and maybe even be good. Does anybody think the same about Hoyer? I mean, even one person who has ever seen him play?

Brisket would have been nice...Bridgewater is probably much better than Hoyer.

Jets reaction: "Well, if you throw in some cupcakes..."
