5 takeaways from the game...

They were using Welker down the seam, it appeared, with tight coverage. HE IS A SLOT RECEIVER. USE HIM AS A SLOT RECEIVER.

I saw Welker open twice, mainly because it was right in front of my seat, while Brady never made his read on him and through incompletions to Lloyd and Edelman.

With all of the success of the Brady/Welker combo, don't try to fix something that ain't broke.

i agree.....why are we having to change everything so much....I like our D, I like our run game, don't screw with the thing that was working...I do like Lloyd though, I think he is going to help a lot....he has already surpassed ocho from last year in 2 games.

That's simply nonsense, Lisa. He had exactly 2 more targets than Welker.

Whatever, Tommy. You see it your way and I"ll see it mine. And what I saw was a wide open Welker on a couple of plays that never saw daylight cuz Tommy was looking for Lloyd.

So wouldnt that be on Brady? But the question is why all of the sudden would Brady go away from welker? See this is what I hate....every year we have to break in new receivers, this was my bitch about not drafting young receivers....would it hurt to have some chemistry so we do not need to go through this every year? GB has had the same receiver set for the past 5 years...the same one...

I'm a Welker fan, but dropping easy balls isn't going to get him more targets. That drop on 3rd down that would have given them a first lead directly to 7 points.

It looks to me like they are trying to be more unpredicatble and things for the most part looked disjointed Sunday.

Yes. I'll see it my way.

Welker has lost the confidence of his QB. That's what I see. Honestly? I can't blame Brady either. Considering his mediocre-at-best performance in the playoffs (including losing the Super Bowl), coupled with Welker throwing Brady under the bus in the offseason, and Welker's propensity for taking passes off the ****ing facemask this season - I wouldn't have much confidence in Welker either.

Ok but Lloyd dropped a pass for a big first down too...I cannot just buy that all of the sudden Welker is the odd man out, not after everything that has happened.

Sure. It's not Welkers only drop. I still think he will be a big part of this offesnse. I do think they wan't to see what Edelman can do and he's a better blocker. It's a long season, things can change.
Brady may be forcing things to Llyod at this point, but the season is young.

Well not sure he is forcing things....Lloyd has made some good plays....I wish they would just run the offense with the weapons they have....someone said it best the other day, its almost like they are still running preseason, hey lets see if this toss sweep works....hey lets see how Edelman does....

Quite surprised I haven't heard any analysts speculate that the reason for whatever-we-call-this-Welker-thing is related to the drop in the SB. Some have speculated it is just BB holding a grudge over the contract dispute. The whole situation is just bizarre to me and we don't know the story behind it, but it is just bizarre.

I was quite upset when the pass hit Welker in the face against the Titans, though.

I am about sick of that "drop" in the superbowl thing...I really hope that this has zero to do with that....it would be really ugly if not, and I would hope Brady had just a bit of integrity to not go for that at all....I hope I am right.

I can't imagine thats it. Why give the guy 9 plus million if you don't plan on using him? makes no sense to me.

I dont' have any ideal what the numbers are, but it does feel like he drops more balls than he used to.

Thats just odd too....how do you develop into a ball dropper..I could see it the other way around....unless its a mental thing. I have seen that guy pluck a ball inches from the ground with his finger tips.

I guess it can work both ways. I've seen Wes make great catches also. Something looks different, can't put my finger on it. Something about him looks different, maybe the contract thing is having some effect on him..

I heard a new one today on FT, TB is a jerk because he ISN'T STICKING UP FOR WW MORE.

I think I read an article that said WW has the most drops over the past 3 seasons, but I'd temper that with the amount of targets he gets is probably the most (or close to it) too.

Can announcers get over the whole "Welker dropped it? You NEVER see that!" thing now?

I was wrong...second in the league over the past 3 years and yes targets are a part of the reason.

yeah I think percentage is a better way to look at that....I am telling you when I think about receivers that drop passes, he just never came to mind that often....now all of the sudden in 2 games its some sort of an issue...just don't get it. Speaking of which....I see that two receivers we cut are in the best rate...category.....
