Some highlights, but check out the article and give Tom E. the clicks, there's more info on the info they provided & that TFB recycles phones because of privacy. Goodell really is the captain of a ship of fools.

The information that Wells requested covered September 2014 to February 28, 2015. The first thing we did in June was say, ‘Holy cow, do we have a cell phone left from that time period?’ because Tom regularly cycles through phones. We happened to find one and we tested that phone and found it covered the period October through November.

In a letter to Goodell, we told him that we don’t have any other phones that cover November through March. We believe Tom may have cycled through a phone. We were the ones that disclosed this issue. Meaning that if Tom Brady was trying to hide something, why would we voluntarily disclose that fact?

“They never asked for the actual device. Ted Wells, in his May 12 press conference actually said that -- he emphasized that. They didn’t want the actual device........They knew going into the March 6 hearing that they were not going to get the actual device. They knew that.

Yee says Tom wanted the new Iphone 6. Brady says he replaced his broken samsung with an Iphone 6.

Can they get on the same page please

Why would he need to dispose of the phone itself, rather than just change the number?

"Destroyed" was the NFL propaganda term because "erased all the data" wouldn't get the torch and pitchfork crowd fired up enough.

Like mose celebrities, TB doesn't want his cell phone data to be all over the media, which is why he told Wells to take a hike in the first place.

I hear he used one of these that he bought specifically to prevent Wells from seeing the phone:

I didn't use the word "Destroyed". Isn't all the info from the phone still out there someplace? I don't know for sure but it seems like the service provider would be able to retrieve the texts regardless of whether the phone was disposed of or not.

I believe in the fall of 2014, the Samsung phone he had was damaged and he replaced it with an Iphone 6.

Wells never asked for the phone itself.

All texts in that time period were provided to Wells.

Brady presented a letter from Verizon at the appeal stating they could not produce the actual texts, but could provide dates times and the phone numbers during that time frame. Brady's team provided a spreadsheet of these to the NFL at the appeal. They already had any text messages between Brady/Jastremski/McNally because they already had the phones of all but Brady (and any texts/calls from Brady would show on those phones)

IIRC Yee et al provided the NFL with a list of everyone TB texted/called during that period so the NFL could contact those people to provide those messages if they chose. They chose not to.

I also read/heard somewhere that the NFL had BB's phone/messages also.

Tbh, I felt like it was a bit disingenuous of Tom's counsel to approach it this way. I think most people would discard it given that they would have to secure texts/call logs from close to 30 different people. It's not very practical.

Why they only needed to look for 3 numbers the chuckleheads and the equipment manager. Those would be the only people involved and they already had their phones and all incoming and out going data. Why would you need to contact anyone else?

I can't speak to Wells' motive. But I think this is a different discussion anyway.

I think the fact remains that telling Wells to go fish is impractical and would have preferred if they had just told him "sorry, that's irrelevant, here are the texts between Tom and the three people in question" or some such.

I'm not overly fond of that whole deal myself. I still believe TB is 100% innocent, but it's not very favorable appearing. I'd worry about it more if the court case would be requiring of that information.

A simple click of the excel worksheet would have given them each number, or by date... it is not that difficult unless you are totally computer illiterate, maybe wells is

Again ALL NEP employee cell phones including coaches were turned over. The only exceptions were the players. SO if Brady texted anyone of those other employees, the actual text is already available. What on earth could handing over the texts on his phone accomplished when they already have/had access to them? So he gives them a hard copying and they Wells says oh wait I need to check this or this or this or this. They told Wells up front you will not be getting the phone period it's his personal phone. Honestly how would Brady know which texts would be irrelevant since Wells wouldnt say? It was until after the report came out did he even find out he could be punished for it or for that matter that they were so important to the investigation? If he doesn't have a hard copy of his texts which would be the same as the texts they have already have………what was he suppose to turn over. Text messages are 2 way. The same conversation would be on both phones. I personally think giving them a third party generated phone log is way more generous then they needed. All of the phone calls and text messages lined up date and time. So they wanted to what, compare the 2 messages to make sure they were the same? Any call or text that could have been deleted by the chuckleheads would have shown up on that log. I think they told Wells to go fish because thats exactly what he was doing. Well actually it was Goodell but thats neither here nor there. I get you think it looks bad he didn't but I wouldn't either.

I don't think it makes Tom look bad. I think it's just disingenuous by Tom's counsel to respond in that matter and would have preferred if they just told Wells to go to hell after giving him the bare minimum.

Ah, I hadn't heard about the Verizon letter.

I originally thought the whole phone thing was just a fishing expedition but after reading the article bid just linked in the other thread I realized it wasn't even that. It's just a bullshit move the evil one come up with to **** Brady and cover his own ass.

The league never gave a shit about it until they decided it was a nice garnish to stir up indignation when the "appeal" was released.
