The greatest song ever written

Stairway to Heaven.

And "The Star Bangled Banner"?? Really? It's a damn pub song! Jeez.

How dare you disrespect freedom!

There can be only one.

Happy Birthday.

This song is never sung when at least somebody isn't feeling wonderful.

I'd say ABCDEFG.....
"the guy that wrote that song wrote everything"
- Steven Wright

And if there has ever been a rendition of this song not guaranteed to cause cringing I have never heard it!

Another great thing about that song: even people 100% tone deaf can sing along; there's always a crowd to drown out even the worst voice.
:toast:

Plus, you can sing it to ANYONE! ". . . dear yoooooou. . ."

Nope.

That was a ripoff of "Twinkle, twinkle little star".

How about this one?

The greatest song ever written not coincidentally is also the greatest concert footage ever shot.....

Impossible question to answer but questions like this always produce spirited discussion. The greatest song ever is whatever each of us says it is.

WOW! Thanks so much for giving me a chance to listen to that fabulous tune again. John Entwistle was an absolute virtuoso on the bass. Peter Townsend jumping all over the stage like a gleeful 7 year old. The legendary Keith Moon pounding the crap outta his drumset. And, of course, the impossibly gorgeous Roger Daltry looking unbelieveable in that tiny little T-shirt and belting it out for all he's worth. That band was just as tight in person as in the studio. I had the good fortune to see them 3 times. Kept waiting for Daltry to drop that mike when he did those amazing swings, but he never did.

Again - thanks for giving the oldbag a chance to rock out one more time.
