The 2021 Draft- We Need This One

I watched Rattler earlier in the season and he had a very erratic day. Not impressive at all. I find it hard to believe that PFF has him graded over Princess Trevor. He must have improved one hell of a lot since that day.

I maintain that the issue with Lawrence that I am most interested in as he goes through the draft gauntlet is what goes on between his ears.

Not that we'll have a shot at him, but if we did, I find myself wondering whether Bill would be as psyched up to coach him as all the fans would expect.

The best way I can describe it is that he is the Golden Boy of all Golden Boys and I've seen him pitch some hissy fits when he didn't get his way. Something tells me that he's very accustomed to doing whatever he feels like doing and no College player is invincible. The Hooded One seems to prefer people that have had to overcome significant issues of one sort or another and the Princess doesn't fit that profile too well. Physically, he's the best I've ever seen and he is definitely very competitive, but I wouldn't call him a lock for the HOF at this point.
I would agree with pretty much all of what you said...who do you think would be a good fit as a QB draft pick for BB/the Pats?

Beats me. In any case, I'm not thinking any of the top names will be sitting there for us because we might pick a bit lower than most believe.

I gotta watch the BYU kid again. I've seen them play a little, but he made zero impression and is supposed to be good.

Anyhow, I like Lawrence over Justin Fields, but was just pointing out that Trevor might not be the leader that a top pro QB should be and I'd need to study up on him off the field.

Fields is really good in college, but I've learned to factor in that Ohio State is just so much better than most teams they play that it's a little hard to get a read on how they'd do with, say, a shitty OL and mediocre talent at the skills. Troy Smith, Cardale Jones, Braxton Miller, Dwayne Haskins and Terelle Pryor have convinced me that you better make sure he's what he seems to be when they're blowing out a bad Nebraska team and putting up 52.

Anyhow, I thought Justin Herbert was a ham n'egger when I watched him at Oregon, so what do I know about Quarterbacks?

Cam @ 20 million with added incentives, I like the guy and what he's becoming here or maybe a trade with Houston for Watson. They can't afford him, they have no draft picks to speak of and he, I believe could be developed in a big way here.

He's got the talent and skills and is still fairly young.

Rookie...next year. That was my point.

Normally I'd say the same thing about Bama QBs but this year I think Mac Jones MIGHT prove me wrong. He's a good enough player to make it to Bama but he had to
scratch and claw for playing time behind a golden child. He wasn't given anything; he earned his time.
Take Tua for example. The golden child came in and practically, no, not practically at all, he and his handler parents actually told Saban that if he joined Bama he'd have
to be guaranteed the starting job over Jalen Hurts. And of course that's exactly what happened. For that reason alone, I'm not a Tua fan and never will be. Now add in all the great players Tua had around him and you realize you've got to sharpen your pencil and get out the magnifying glass to make sure Tua is as good as his hype and worth his family's meddling. As an aside, real true long-time Bama fans never really knew just what to think of Tua as their QB. Most thought he was a self-serving mercenary who was using Bama's name and Saban for personal gain but that's another story.

I'm not worried about Mac Jones in that way as he's fought to prove himself every step and with COVID limiting practice time, his natural ability is shining through more.

Another thing I'll say is that I'm totally unsure what BB/Josh are looking for in the next Patriots QB. My current guess is a hybrid guy who is equally talented as a drop back pocket passer as he is at running a pure RPO offense. I can't help but think their experience with Cam is shaping their ultimate decision even though Josh has a long way to go to get to a true RPO experience with this offense. Personally, I'm looking forward to this off season more than any in the last 20 yrs to see the answer to that.

There couldn't be a better sign that he'll be a Patriots' target this coming draft.

I don't know who TE1 is this year, but I watched USC's Erik Krommenhoek (Sr.) last night and he looks as good as the Penn State kid to me. Huge and athletic as hell. The other guy on that team that looks like a future pro is WR Tyler Vaughns who had a nice night for himself with hands that looked like suction cups and smooth footwork. Their QB is shaky at best, but talent is talent. Check out Vaughs sometime. I don't know about Amon-Ra St. Brown but he's supposed to be a top guy too. I personally don't think Bill will draft a rookie whose name means the "king of all gods", because how could you keep him humble?

I do know that if you gave me a chance to draft all 3 then we'd likely be one hell of a more talented than we are right now.

This could be another good TE.
Florida TE Kyle Pitts is up to 29 catches for 513 yards and 11 receiving TD this season.
That’s more receiving touchdowns than any tight end in the country had in all of 2019 and he's only played in 6 games.
6'6", 250.
