Random Thoughts

This a FB memory that came up this morning from 2 years ago:

Extreme introspection is often the most difficult thing a person can do. As difficult as it may be to study the darkest times of one's life, it is even more difficult to study your own part in it. It is far easier to study the actual events, than one's own culpability. It is especially difficult to admit that some of the worst parts were inevitable outcomes of our own decisions. During this holiday season, a time of thanks, I encourage each one of us to look at our own histories. Take time to really digest who we were at our lowest, and how that led us to become who we are/were at our greatest. And to give thanks for that.....

Random (not so random) thoughts.

Just got this about my old friend Duane. WTF? 2020 can go straight to hell. Please send him positive energy or prayers for whatever you do:

Good morning. This is Tina Duanes wife. I am putting this information here because i know he has alot of friends and family. Duane suffered a massive stroke yesterday afternoon. They have med flighted him to Dartmouth hospital. They have all the best neurologists there. The brain has suffered alot of damage he cannot move his right side and cannot talk. The next few days are critical for brain swelling. Hopes and prayer for him and thank you for them. Tina

Getting annoyed at issues with both my work and my wife’s.
First mine, lost a guy in my department in April, was hoping they would find someone quickly. I work days on weekends, afternoons on Monday, and evenings Tuesday and Wednesday. I hoped for short and they hired someone in July. The kid (as he was just out of college) was two weeks away from getting his own shift and he quits. Two weeks away from everyone having normal shifts again. Now I have no idea when they will get someone hired. At this point shifts need to be redone to help everyone.

onto my wife. She is a nurse at a hospital in town. Her “home unit” is now all covid, she is not allowed to treat those patients so she is a floater. Meaning she could go just about anywhere there isn’t covid. She works nights do she starts at 7pm and is supposed to be done at 7:30am. She is also one of those nurses that spends more time with patients and worries about charting later. Last night she was sent to one unit until 1am then sent to another. As a result, she had 8 patients to chart on and still not left at 9:45am. To the hospital credit, the issue with staffing isn’t that they won’t hire anyone, no one is applying. There is a va clinic expanding locally and I want her to look into it if they hire more nurses. I know I “signed up for this” when I married a nurse but it hasn’t been this bad.

As for my job, there is a casino opening up five minutes from my house in the next year or two and I’m probably going to explore non gaming jobs there (pr, theater type jobs) when it opens).

On this day in 1820, an 80-ton sperm whale rammed & sank a Nantucket whaleship named Essex.
Twenty of the crew escaped in open boats, but only five survived the three months adrift, while three others were rescued off an island.
Herman Melville based his novel Moby Dick on these real events, but changed the name of the ship from the Essex to the Pequod.
One hundred and fifty one years later, a Seattle English teacher, a History teacher, and a writer approached a bank about a loan to start a coffee house. They wanted to call the place “The Pequod,” but the bank would not lend them money on that strange name, so they changed it to “Starbucks” — the name of the first mate in Herman Melville’s Moby Dick tale.

Great, fascinating story.👌

Tremendous rock radio station in the Boston area to some of the worst music ever.

Yeah thinking Baphomet was not happy and rained (reigned?) hell down on the country because of it.

“I am the man who loves his life. I am the man who does not sacrifice his love or his values.”

What the heck, I just woke up at 6:17 and it's mostly dark out still. I say what the heck cuz I usually go to bed around this time but fell asleep sitting up at 10 last night. Guess I need the rest.

Please don't make this political. It's a tribute to hard work, perseverance and success in the face of incredible odds.

"Little-known fact: Bezos and the half-dozen of his original team had kneepads to kneel on the floor to pack the books they sold.
From that, to the world's wealthiest man, in less than 25 years.

God bless America"

I wish it was really like this, but, it wasn't. There's some disinfo within the chapters of this story.
