2020 - Playoff Thread

It's a bit early, but we can track movements up and down the likely fixtures week by week.

If the season ended now, this is what we'd get with the new 7 teams per conference format. Only 1st seed gets the bye. Some intriguing matchups, in the AFC I think our Buffalo pals would be a bit nervous going up against the Browns. Which is some statement to make.

I would not be so sure about that. Browns have the O to keep up and a ton of mojo. KC has also underperformed all season.
I agree. The playoffs can take a strange turn and sometimes teams who nobody picked, go on a run, a mission where it all clicks and they go all the way playing away for all the games in the playoffs. The Giants in that 2010 season case in point.

The Browns have that X factor now, a strange season and events has brought them all very close together and there is enough talent there to do something special imho.

And some pundit pointed it out, by game time, it will have been 20 days between games for Mahomes, and his last game was a 55-percent, 17-point shaky win over the 4-12 Falcons at home.

Brees should roll & Kamara is back. Bears are tough but they aren't ready for this NO offense with a healthier Brees.
Both Balt and Tenn have had wtf games this year. Is Tenn healthy enough? LJackson is playing better than he did the first half of the season. Vrabel is smart. He can be my HC after BB.
Balt-Tenn is the kind of game I wouldn't bet on. Too many ifs, ands and buts going on.
Pitt vs Browns could be a runaway or a tight game depending on which version of each team we get and health of Big Ben's arm. Lots at stake for Browns. Another game I wouldn't bet.
Brees won, Bears weren't ready.
Tenn got out early...then Lamar took off running down on the backstretch.
The Browns ran away with it even though Pitt made it look more respectable than it was. I thought the Browns would beat Pitt just as I thought Washington would beat Pitt but no, I wouldn't bet my money on it. I needed more proof that Ben's body isn't aging well. I got the proof I needed. Sorry AOT.

Bad news: Add Pitt to the growing list of teams competing with us for a QB.
Good news: Pitt is in the red for 2021 cap space.

It's Super Wild Card Weekend! Looking forward to Super Divisional Weekend, Super Conference Championship Weekend, and Super Super Bowl Weekend! Everything is super!! Thank you!!!

I need time to think about these. Injury reports, COVID reports, last second scratches - they matter now more than ever.

21-0 Brownies. Who would have thunk it.

The Browns had lots to prove, JuJu brought about bad juju, Tomlin's smoke and mirrors show was exposed weeks ago by Wash. and the Steelers' tough guy image has flamed out but mostly bc of Ben's deterioration. Besides I've always loved the look of bewilderment on Tomlin's face while staring at adversity. And is anything more predictable than Ben rubbing his elbow/hand/knee/ankle/shoulder after he throws a wtf pass?

Rodney was all alone on that pick...

I always liked Rodney.

So what should the Steelers do for 2021? He's due a $15M signing bonus within 3 days of the 2021 league year.
They can pay Ben & take a $41M cap hit or hope he restructures his deal for a lot less with more years added. His dead cap is $22M, btw.
That was a very bad contract for the Steelers.

There are a lot of sad folks around here which makes me happy. I'm not really rooting for any team, but I'm rooting against 3 and one just got eliminated.

Should tell you what the Stillers problem is...it's Tomlin but everybody likes to run around and pretend he's a great coach because he won a SB with a team that Bill Cowher built. Tomlin creates an atmosphere for guys like JuJu and AB to be major distractions and total tools. I hope they sign him to a 10 year extension.

Punting on 4th and short two different times when the offense was driving were total gut punches. Both times he did that the Browns drove down the field for a touchdown. That's all on Tomlin.

I am not a Tomlin fan at all but I think this season it was more about Ben. He just deteriorated as the season went on. That elbow surgery was just too tough to overcome. They are in the same situation as us. They need a QB.
