The non-political Coronavirus thread

While not much major changes over the past year due to covid, one thing did. Due to losing a co worker because he quit due to fear of getting covid, I began working day shift on weekends. That meant I lost my ability to go to church. The plus side is that my church began broadcasting on a station at work during my shift and for a while they weren’t allowing people in anyway. Tomorrow I get to go again and my five year old is exciting to go again also.

Yeah, life and Influenza A/B tend to do that...it really is a bummer that normal sickness culls off the herd.

Is your power all well and good now? No more black ice on the roads anymore?

It must be back to normal now (75 degrees and above) down there in DFW...I mean, Cali? :coffee:

You should write a book about your massive calamities. I'll proof write it.

Finally made it in yesterday to donate some of that good plasma to help others get over this stuff. Pretty painless procedure. I was worried about being drained afterwards but I had no problems drinking four beers a few hours later. 😂

How did it go today with church?
glad you are able to get some normalcy back.

Had my first COVID vax Friday, btw. Pfizer. Wasn't my choice but you get what you can.
No reactions at all and feeling just fine.

Apparently here in Indiana you can choose where and what you get.

Again, here in Indiana, there is a website (or a phone number) that tells you locations where you can get certain ones and get scheduled. All three are available in my area. Johnson and Johnson went to pharmacies. Local health departments and other places got the other two as far as I know. I’m not sure where you live and frankly for what I posted, I don’t care.

I just received my Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine. My town Board of Health rocks! Due to my handicap and mobility issues, I was able to receive the vaccine at home. A nurse from a neighboring hospital administered the vaccine and a town EMT stayed with me for a while to make certain I would be okay.

My second shot was last Sunday (Moderna) and it knocked me on my ass. Really took me by surprise.

But it felt good to be vaccinated, and i seemed to have had a big change in attitude on the plus side, so the virus must have been on my mind more than I thought. Next week I'm going to CT to visit my son. Looking forward to that.

I lost two friends to the virus. They were my age (mid-70's) so while not expected, it's always a possibility even without a pandemic. Miss them though, probably even more as I resume a more normal life. Also lost a friend when his wife died and he moved back to TX/OK area where his family is. With my friend's wife we had a socially distanced and masked wake. My two friends were back last spring so no funeral, no last respects.

On the grateful side, I'm sure as a country we will weather the next crises better prepared mentally. This one kind of took the world by surprise. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

Had my first dose of the Oxford AstraZeneca vax today, and I've been hit pretty hard, I'm only 29, but I'm a bit feverish and was shaking from chills earlier despite being in my bed, I took some paracetamol (I think that's the same thing as Tylenol) and I felt a bit better, but fully expecting to have a crap night's sleep and to feel pretty rough tomorrow, work may be a non-starter tomorrow.

I'm going to try to register for the Johnson and Johnson one at the Indianapolis motor speedway when they have their big clinics next month. Can't register until next Wednesday so it maybe full by then.

Just got my J&J vaccine. I had an appointment for Thursday to get my first dose of Moderna then this morning someone shared on Facebook that one of the locations in the town where I work had 75 extra doses of the J&J so I jumped on it. It feels pretty good to have it done.

I got the Phifzer vaccine from Fairfax County, VA (Law Enforcement), got the second dose three weeks ago. I had some arm pain after the first dose, the RN told me to move my arm more after the second dose and that did the trick for the arm pain. No other side effects.

I never contracted COVID, eventhough I travelled consistantly the whole last year, hardly ever wear a mask, and never use hand sanitzer. Years of sexual harrsment training has conditioned me to not come to close to anyone, so social distancing was never an issue for me (not a hugger).
