Looking at the Patriots - 2021

We should see this year. If last years draft class with a off season, TC & preseason. Is just another poor draft. Dugger didn’t make up a single pass . Uche only had 9 tackles 1 sack on years. TEs will be riding the bench. Unless BB plays 3 TE formations.
If Cam is the starter he may have no choice.

We already know BB will run a similar offense again. Now will huge upgrades at TE . I just hope this year he address the need at WR .

I don't really care about the WR position. It's hugely overvalued - how many rings do Calvin Johnson, Julio Jones, AJ Green, Amari Cooper, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Odell Beckham and DeAndre Hopkins have between them?

Zero.

But Julian Edelman, a 7th round draft choice converted from a QB to a PR/WR, has three rings and is second all-time in post-season receptions.

There's no need to invest heavily in the WR position in either draft picks or cap space. Wide receivers that make splash plays and have gaudy statistics aren't the way to win championships, not when devoting resources to that position group weakens others.

And Jerry Rice has three rings. He won two with Joe Montana and one with Steve Young.

But Joe Montana won a Super Bowl before Jerry Rice joined the 49ers. And Jerry Rice didn't win any rings when he wasn't playing with a HOF QB.

Of course, a team doesn't need a HOF QB to win a championship. But when a team wins without that kind of QB, it's not because a WR led them to victory. It's either an outstanding defense, or a JAG QB that got hot at the end of the year.

And the argument can be made that a league-leading RB will be far more beneficial in a Championship run than a WR. Pick up the yards and keep the clock moving.

Ah yes, that's a nice reference to clock-killing Corey Dillon.

Getting by the Colts in the 2004 season's playoffs was the real Super Bowl - beating the Steelers and then an Eagles team led by Andy Reid was like checking all the "No" boxes when you're filling out a medical form at the health clinic. You have to do it, but it's kind of automatic and doesn't require your full attention.

No team wants to pay for a league leading RB anymore...well, other than the Raiders.
Having a stable of RBs is the new normal these days bc it offers the best value.
Just look at the number of RBs who haven't been signed in FA. Supply has won the war over demand.
And those that have signed are being paid a pittance. Well, except for the Raiders again.

We are not going to get a Superstar WR in Draft. What I want is someone that can be productive & CATCH THE BALL. Something we have had basically had no production in last 1 1/2 seasons. Myers & Byrd last year were #3 & #4 options playing as starters.

The new TEs count in this year's receivers class. The passing O will go through them & they will make our current WRs better by attracting coverage by defenses.

That's because the rules are criminally slanted toward a passing offense. Why any team would predicate itself on the run with the way the game is played and the rules really makes no sense. Having a stable of dynamic RBs that can run and catch is the way to go so you can run a multiple offense. The league is college style now too in terms of offense which really helps the QBs drafted to be able to play right away.

Belichick's boat is a beaut.

That would be such a shame for Jules. We all want to see him back with a better offensive lineup next season and see him hang up the cleats on his terms when he's ready. Knee issues at his age is a terrible sign though.

It sucks for him especially. I'm sure he didn't want it to end this way.
Man, that really stinks. Probably time for Bill to release him and save the money on the cap.

That's a decision BB will make with Edelman. He has earned the right to determine his fate.

Bill is not really the "determine your own fate" type of GM. LOL. That being said, maybe he sees value in Edelman being on a pitch count throughout the season so he keeps him on the team situationally. We did sign some guys that fill Edelman's spot so I can also see Bill releasing him too.
