Demo Derbies

Those old chryslers, the imperials in particular, were hard to kill. I had heard at one point they were not allowed anywhere but Hopkinton around here.
Up until 1966 the Imperials were body-on-frame, not unibody like all the other Chrysler passenger car products at the time. It was its own division and product line.
I am amazed at how heavy duty the chassis is on these cars. It is literally built like a tank. Everything is massive and heavy.
The distance between the front bumper and the radiator is like 2 feet.
Imperials were banned from demolition derbies because of these advantages.
Nothing else is built like these cars.
