I think it is time to really look at Sean Payton as maybe the best coach in the league. The guy has been amazing the last 3 years without Brees as his QB. Went 5-0 with Bridgewater and Teddy had not played a game in almost 2 years after his horrible knee surgery. Then he went 4-1 with Hill last year who is a gadget player.

Now we come to yesterday. Winston threw 5 TDs yesterday and ZERO picks. The latter is what is eye popping given his affinity for giving the ball to the other team. I realize GB is a mess as Rodgers has already mailed it in after his off-season of hate BUT the Saints offense absolutely destroyed GB and this was in week one when many teams played sloppy with turnovers and penalties.

I have LONG admired Payton and always felt like he was minimized somewhat by Brees and his stat hogging but this guy is flat out legit. He is going to give us all we can handle in week 3. I am looking forward to it!

We will always like Payton gets after he was the only one who seemed to back Bill and the team over deflategate.

And I loved watching the Saints beat the Colts in that SB!
Both Bill and Sean are products of the Parcell's coaching tree:coffee:

Underrated? I think everyone knows he is a great coach.
Sure. I wasn't implying that people think he is not. But he never really gets mentioned as the best and I think what he has been doing with QBs not named Brees is pretty remarkable the last few years. The guy is 11-1 with Teddy, Hill and Winston.

BB is the GOAT. Sorry...

She's trying to state a debate on Belichick. I'm not feeding into it.
Not a referendum on Bill at all. I believe what Payton is doing is pretty darn impressive. Obviously the take this morning is how awful Rogers was and he was but the Saints offense was blistering (GB defense was top 10 last year) and actually looked better with Winston than it did with Brees the last couple of years.

Ditto. She could just be starting another silly, wrong, narrative, where surprise surprise the horrible terrible really bad coach Bill belching is not the best coach.

Edit: every now and again that nasty machine that sneaks up and changes what I said, can be hilarious. Look what it did to the evil BB, above.

Sean Payton is definitely in the top 5 for the best coaches in the NFL. However Sean was operating with a maxed out credit card as far as the salary cap and still couldn't get it done with a HOF caliber QB. Winning regular season games isn't exactly the most impressive thing to me. In my eyes Sean Payton is on the level of a Mike Tomlin or a Pete Carroll. The team should be glad they have him instead of the Mike McCarthys or Freddie Kitchens of the world, a rare talent, but can't get it done consistently even with elite talent and unlikely to make it into the HOF.

My thought precisely.

Gentlemen -

Her post was not about how great Payton is.

"....the last 3 years without Brees as his QB. Went 5-0 with Bridgewater and Teddy had not played a game in almost 2 years after his horrible knee surgery. Then he went 4-1 with Hill last year who is a gadget player."

It was a thinly veiled slap at BB, the most horrific HC and GM ever.

One trick pony.
