We're on to Houstan: Gamete Thread

On Mills...100%. He allows BB to play chess. All the pieces on the chessboard matter and it is the strategy that determines the situational value. I taught my kids to play chess by always starting the game down 5 deices of their choosing and then beating them with my other "guys". Soon enough it was s 4 down, then 3, 2 and now none.

BB is playing chess and knows the value. Your point about Mills is excellent.
Eh. This was Jackson's worst game. I hope he's not feeling the pressure now that Gilmore is gone. He said he could not believe Gilly was really gone. I also wonder how much Gilly was coaching him up.

You do realize that Gilmore missed some of last season and Jackson had a much better season than Gilmore last year, right?

You just keep saying things aren't reflective of the truth. Just because a ball is thrown in a perfect spot above someone's head, doesn't mean the player played a "terrible" game. McCourty gets the blame on that play because he strangely over ran the play out of bounds. It was terrible. He knows better than that.

Jackson struggled last year when Gilly was out. He has been solid this year. Today was just a bad day hopefully.

Umm, the whole defense struggled last year during the pandemic. It was a lost year, but Jackson was clearly the better CB last year. This is why I ask if you actually watch the games. Everything you say is either a lie intentionally or something you aren't aware of, yet you run your mouth like some know-it-all. It's quite the troll technique.

Cooks was removed from the game and the Run D showed up. Wrong and wrong again. Rinse and repeat.

As for last year:

13. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

New England's secondary took a step back from a 2019 season in which the unit claimed the top spot. This also breaks an eight-year streak of the Patriots ranking among the 10 highest-graded secondaries.

Stephon Gilmore didn’t quite play up to his typical elite standards when on the field this year compared to 2019, as his catch rate allowed ballooned 15 percentage points to 64%, and his forced incompletion rate dropped 10 percentage points to 5%. Jonathan Jones and J.C. Jackson performed quite well, though, and helped slot the Patriots inside the top 15. They ranked fifth and 29th, respectively, in coverage grade among all cornerbacks this season.

Umm, except you keep spewing disinformation and things that aren't true, so people have to call you on it. You even get corroborative facts to show you how wrong you are and you still act like nothing happened.

You're not innocent here as you do your trolling. You're not being genuine with how you're disagreeing. You also run and hide and dodge and ignore when confronted with reality, facts and truth.

On ignore you go.

It's a shame but this place is turning into a cesspool again.

Adrian Phillips represents a similar option, but as a Rover not as a CB or a deep Safety that technically Mills could play like a Harmon if BB wanted it. It's a huge reason why that D was able to put on the display they did last week vs Brady.

Look at Flores today. He could have borrowed that from BB today vs TB and he couldn't because he doesn't have the players to do it.

It's kind of why BB has 2 of those guys out there. He has 2 Rovers in Phillips and Dugger and then he has guys who can play inside as much as outside in pure CB nickel and dime looks with Jon Jones and Mills.

And, he's got LBs for days who are versatile like Hightower, Van Noy and Collins now as well.

I saw one play where Phillips lined up in front of a bunch formation. He hits a WR to disrupt his route, then does the same thing to a second guy and Mills hits the 1st guy in the flat and Phillips chases him down at the sideline for a minimal gain. He's a pretty good football player and doesn't miss much that happens.

While Dugger is getting a ton of tackles, I'm pumping the brakes on him until I see him make a play on the ball now and then. I'd say he's covering a little tighter as he goes, but not yet tight enough to suit me. Still tentative. I think that's a contributing factor to his tackle numbers, as well, since people aren't afraid to throw in his direction. Still, he does seem to be improving overall and will probably be one of our better defensive players before too long.

The Double Rover is an interesting wrinkle and I think it's an interesting way to play passing teams without losing too much versus the run, although Tampa scored on a run by blocking Dugger and Phillips with Olinemen and it worked for them in that case. We'll probably see it more and more moving forward.

All fair. I have seen Dugger look a bit more smooth and comfortable compared to last year. I am not saying he's lighting it up or anything. I just like to see progress with young players and he's one that didn't have a camp last year. I don't really count last season, to be honest. I don't know how anyone can.

Got there in just a shade under 6 minutes.
haha

Hey, give the guy a break. He hit the right holes and followed his blocks. With White down and Taylor in the doghouse, we need all the help we can get out of the position.

Well I guess this is how Tampa felt after “winning” last week.
Good thing feelings still don’t matter in football.

They don't, which is why the constant hot takes are stupid. 2-3 is 2-3. ( Not 'Should be 4-1' not 'Should be 0-5")

That's why they keep score. And that's why people keep stats.

one funny thing...anyone else surprised to hear in that game that meyers hasn't had a td catch yet? he might be the first wr ever to throw a td before he catches one! 🤣
Nope. It's something people have been using against him all over the place in internetland. He ranks highly in a lot of categories as a WR, but since we live in such a fantasy football skewed world, it's why no one really understands how good he is.

Brady ignored him in 2019, we had no real QB last year and voila, here we are. I actually agreed with the announcer that he got big eyes on that awful drop, because that likely was going to be his first TD. He almost got in earlier on that screen pass. It'll happen soon. The kid is too good for it not to.

All wins count the same. Any way you can win in Sept and Oct especially when teams are still figuring things out is critical for playoff positioning. Tampa is in sole possession of first now because they won last Sunday.

Just win baby.
