State of the board.

UT does a great job and needs everyone's support which means we all have a responsibility to try and keep things on the level here and not have the need for Mods to be constantly having to step in. Moderating is a thankless task. I was one on a global rugby forum for years and it was challenging to say the least. It had a large membership with posters from New Zealand, South Africa, Ireland, Wales, England, Scotland, Australia, Canada, US, Italy, Argentina, Italy, France, Georgia etc etc

It made this place very sane. We had instances of posters actually meeting off-board to "settle matters". One poster pulled a cheap shot move once and ratted on another poster to that poster's employer and got him the sack. There were all kinds of legal threats flung about, you name it. It got especially heated when the the countries would play each other in the Rugby matches like World Cups, Summer tours etc you'd have all the posters from New Zealand say battling the South African posters on threads that would descend into appalling s**t fights. You can imagine what the threads were like when Ireland played England each year....Bans were handed out on a daily basis.

People who have never modded have no idea of what kind of crap Mods have to put up with off-board. The personal messages and emails from deluded and borderline lunatic posters.

UT was right to bring the banhammer to I50, he had taken a turn for the worse lately, very embittered and sullen and from experience, it never ends well.

Yesterday I put someone on ignore for the first time on this new site. I guess if someone is rubbing you the wrong way, that's the best option rather than keep engaging them.
Unless someone threatens you why the hell bother UT or a mod with sending complaints. Just put them on ignore.
Now if you find that many people are hurting your feelings, maybe you need to take an honest look at yourself.

You guys have a good thing here. It's a tight-knit community of mostly all regulars.
When the Bills had the official Buffalo Bills Message Board, there were 10,000 members and a handful posted regularly enough to be known but most of them were just people making random posts.
But that's not the case here.

The Buffalo Range is the same way, but smaller. Still, a group of regulars, however, there is little in the way of actual conversation like there is here. I said it before, you guys are very adept at having actual discussions, intelligent and detailed. On the Frontpage you'll see PAts talk and sports talk, and a multipage thread of every great concert you've been to, classic music, Are we Alone, a Bigfoot thread that's years old, and of course, hot girls.

The thread I started about Social Media went much longer than the 1 1/2 pages it did on the Range. It would be a shame to see things change here.
Especially since I finally started posting more regularly.....

Josh Allen is a badass...and his head coach too. Go too far though, and we will have to mix you with Middy, -lifer, and the other riff/raff. I guess that's how granola mix was discovered?

Oh no, we got a Football Truce here. Other teams, not so much.

I missed all of this. Did some numpty derail the threads by talking about 🏈 again? That shit really has to stop.
No one says numpty anymore.

The last time that I saw that word was when I was forced to read a Charles Dickens novel in HS.

Edit: That was not a personal attack.

hmmm. :coffee:

Chaos everywhere.

I realize that things have slipped too far here. And actions are being taken.

I50 was temporarily banned a few days ago, and based on the nasty message he sent me, if he comes back, he will likely earn a longer banning.

I recognize and appreciate the problems. And the posters causing them. I traveled for a wedding this weekend, got home after the game was over, and allowed myself the time to watch it before logging in here.

I've been very aggressive this evening in moving posts out of the game thread and the Mac Jones thread. Issues will continue to be addressed until we have a more harmonious environment. A more healthy community.

I have asked a member to become a new moderator. Sent the message 1 minute ago. It's a thankless job and he might refuse and I wouldn't blame him.

What you can do

Don't troll.

Don't feed the trolls.

Don't be nasty.

Differing viewpoints are encouraged. Personal attacks, thread derailing, and etc are not.

Don't use this thread to pile on. I know what issues everyone has with others. It doesn't need to be said over and over.

Give me an opportunity to swing us back in a more positive direction. It will take time and patience.

Thank you.
I more than understand how much crap you have to put up with. Many of us are thankful that you have done the remarkable job that you have a putting this place together. I will admit as I have grow older I tend to be less tolerant of some of what I see and read here. Sorry If my post get out of line yet I trust I am one of the less offensive you must contend with.

It really comes from the use of limes by the British navy to prevent scurvy among the sailors.

UT - thanks for everything you do in keeping a great board from going to $hit. I know I personally have just stopped reading threads that got... we'll you know what I mean. I've even just closed my browser and didn't want to be bothered (after checking the Girlie pic thread of course :coffee: )
Brady Planet was a great idea by the way... I don't use it, I'm just glad you put that there and (Try to) keep it out of the main board.

thanks! :toast:
