Anyone else watching this? We've watched both episodes and can't wait to see the next one, there isn't another QB out that is more about his team than TFB.
 
THe idea of The Man in the Arena is pretty cool. Awesome in fact.

It's from a Teddy Roosevelt speech about how the success of our country is not determined by people who talk the talk but do not walk the walk. The best part of the speech, and the part that most applies to Brady, is:

It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, and comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat.

In general, his his speech emphasized his belief that the success of a republic rested not on the brilliance of its citizens but on disciplined work and character; the quality of its people. He told the audience: Self-restraint, self-mastery, common sense, the power of accepting individual responsibility and yet of acting in conjunction with others, courage and resolution—these are the qualities which mark a masterful people.” And importantly, a democracy needed leaders of the highest caliber in order to hold the average citizen to a high standard. They were to do this not by words alone but by their deeds as well. “Indeed, it is a sign of marked political weakness in any commonwealth if the people tend to be carried away by mere oratory if they tend to value words in and for themselves, as divorced from the deeds for which they are supposed to stand.”
 
This is an excellent recap of episode 2 with many stories from Seth Wickersham that give loads of information about Belichick, Brady and the team that we never knew before.
Remember, early on everyone was fully invested, including Brady. This was way before Brady became the diva he later became.

Absolutely not. Between the Facebook doc, this thing and whatever else, it insults my intelligence as a fan, that he's trying so hard to sell me on the idea that he and he alone was the key factor in all of this.

It's self-absorbed and disgusting. Only he, Giselle and his family are playing the victim role here. It's disgusting.

I mean, this is essentially why BB walked. He saw all of this coming and I want nothing to do with a guy who is still in the league polishing old laurels that had to do with the TEAM, not just him.

Some of us were alive and well and adults back in 2001, 2003 and 2004 and know how those games were won.

So, after his antics in 2017, 2018 and 2019, you really believe this applies to Brady? You must not think every highly of Teddy Roosevelt.

Where do I go to watch this? Is it just a regular show on ESPN or do I have to pay extra?

Episodes 1 and 2 aren't what you think. They are more about building the teams and team chemistry. He was proud to be a Patriot at that time and it shows.
Watch the recap. Lots of great stuff there about BB and the Pats.

No, I just don't want to cave into the attention whore he is and I am moving on from the oligarch. It disgusts me to see people like this celebrated in our society when all they want to do is make it about them. I am not fooled by what you're describing. He wants to control the narrative. I'll bet you right now later in that self absorbed doc, he'll try to manipulate everything, like taking no accountability for his poor play in postseasons from 2007-2012 with the offensive approach of his own choosing, etc, as Giselle comes in to blame others. He'll also act like his mutiny in 2017 wasn't on him. It'll be glossed right over. He's burned his bridge in NE. He blew it. He had a chance to be unlike the MeBron's of the world and all these other self-absorbed athletes that exist today, and he just couldn't help himself with Giselle in tow.

Even Peyton Manning didn't go out that way.

It's on ESPN+ which is a paid subscription. You can also get it on Disney Plus which is another pay for service.
I don't want to watch it that badly to pay for it.

That means you can use ESPN+, which is honestly how I am now able to see so many Bruins games out of market, which is great.

Go back and actually read the quote in my post and see what it is all about. You've become Mazz on the other side of the fence, spewing bile every time you see Brady's name mentioned no matter in what context. This speech was about people who do things, who work hard and fail, get up and try again. And again. It's about superstars and JAGs, Brady and Belichick as well as Maugaula Tuitele and Ross Ventrone, and all the UDFAs and practice squad guys who try and get slapped down, those who get overlooked, passed on and passed over, but who never quit, the ones who fight in the arena, a place what never see the critics of those who struggle and win and/or fail.

I never saw the TV show, but I am familiar with Roosevelt's Man in the Arena speech and think it one of the greatest political speeches ever, up there with JFK's inaugural address, Washington's Farewell Address, and Reagan's Brandenburg Gate Speech (of which I am inordinately fond).
