SUPER Wildcard Weekend Game Patriots @ Bills Gamete Thread - Saturday 8:15 PM

the team has improved every year under him, i credit the coaching for some of that. buffalo has had decent talent for a good amount of years. i.e. just the defensive backs they let go could make up a team of all stars.
I mean, you draft in the top 10 for 20 years, you're bound to hit on a few. Unless you're the Jets.

or jax...lol
when i see players consistently leaving and having success elsewhere i can't help but putting some of that on coaching and roster management.

They also have Patricia behind the scenes. IMO, hand the defense over to Patricia or Mayo, Stevie B isn't ready.

The last 5 games, Jackson has been only ok. And against the Bills, far below average, the entire defense was. Jackson can follow the money, right now, if he continues on this trajectory, he won't be worth the money.

Anyone but Patricia.

Some hard decisions need to be made re: the defensive coaches. If Mayo ends up getting a HC job then it begs the question as to why Steve B. has been the defacto DC and whether he would have anything close to that position if his dad was not the HC.

Also, Bedard was mentioning yesterday and some here have echoed him as well that Bill is reluctant to develop his young defensive players. He keeps going back to retreads - Van Noy, Collins, instead of developing Uche and Wino. It is an interesting point but Bill really values vet leadership but perhaps he is a bit too old school in that area and needs to really look at the process. This defense needs to get younger and faster ASAP.

my .02 on a few of the posts above
No way Flores doesn't get an HC job. would love to have him back as the clear cut DC but he's a head coach now (unless next job doesn't pan out). Bears supposedly hot for Flores to be their coach
Stevie needs to earn his position. suspect so far they don't see it that way. someone's point about him coaching elsewhere and proving himself is a good one.
Be surprised if Mayo is ready for an HC gig just yet.

I'd be lying if I didn't say I wanted Flores back here. But I agree, I think he gets a HC gig.
Mayo, if Flores doesn't come back, give Mayo the DC spot imo. He has a better understanding of the defense having played in it.
Steve, needs to step back and learn a lot more before he is given the spot of DC imo.

Mike puts a pretty thorough postmortem on the game.
Putting everything we already know about this teams' issues together with what Mike tells you here is exactly why the Bills ran roughshod the Pats.
Simply put, the Pats didn't have the manpower to field a legit NFL defense and Buffalo took advantage of the opportunity.
Bentley leaving the game injured early in 2nd qtr made a dire situation a catastrophic one.

So Steve Belichick was calling the defensive plays, I wonder if he's been doing it all season or just recently?

Obviously the defense couldn't have been worse in that game. It's even more disturbing to think they had game film to make corrections from the prior drubbing. You've got to look at coaching and game prep as a major culprit there. Whoever is calling the plays, it all falls on Belichick senior. It's his team, his roster, his defense, which looked entirely putrid twice vs your primary obstacle to any future success.
