Random Football News 2022

They can franchise him for, what, $35 million for a year? Or pick up the option for like $10 million
Picking up the option for Jones would be $22.4MM.
It's $29.7MM for Kyler Murray.

It goes like this:
  • If the player makes 2 pro bowls in his first 3 years, the 5th year option is the equivalent of the Franchise tag.
  • If he makes 1 probowl, it's the equivalent of the transition tag
  • If he played at least 75% of snaps in 2 of the 3 years, OR at least 50% of snaps overall it's the average of the 3rd-20th highest paid players at his position.
  • If he doesn't meet any of those criteria, it's the average of the 3rd-25th highest.

IMPORTANT NOTE: for some reason that eludes me, when they break this down by position for these purposes they lump all OL together. So it's pretty unlikely that you'll see OGs or Cs 5th year options picked up when that would require paying them like a top LT. This year, the lowest level would pay an OL $12.6MM.

I don't know who did this graphic but it's wonderful.
NO gave up the farm for 2 players plus DT Jordan Jackson. Loomis is nuts.

Look at the players drafted with the picks NO gave up. Then add in their 2023 1st and 2nd.
Craziness.
