Looking At The Patriots 2022

I agree with those three parts. The middle games were awesome, but it looks like Mac hit the rookie wall, or his brain finally said NO MAS. He should be fine next year.

And I think you're right about Brady-era fans. They like winning (who doesn't) but just don't understand how rare the last 20 years have been. None of them would have survived the 2-14 and 1-15 seasons. To me, making the playoffs every year was something special. To them, not winning the superbowl was a failure of a season. Last year making the playoffs with a rookie QB wasn't an amazing season for them. They need someone to blame for the "failure."

They get so angry, so personal, so out of control. They already scream at not getting their way. I'm waiting for a couple of them to hold their breath until they turn blue.
Right on the money. There's a palpable lack of understanding regarding how winning teams are built, how consistently winning teams are almost always cases of the whole being greater than the sum of the individual parts and that even the greatest players (and no one has ever been greater than TB) can't win championships alone. No one can convince me that there isn't a substantial generational aspect to this phenomenon. I also firmly believe that many, many of the "Brady did it all on his own" crowd very likely never experienced success on winning teams in their own athletic lives. Most of us who were fortunate enough to have had that experience on high school and collegiate teams realize that the phrase "no one individual is bigger than the team" isn't just some overused, hackneyed saying. It's the truth.

All that said, I'm 75 years old this week, and have too much left I want to do before I die. Ever the optimist in all things, I just started a new career (songwriting of all things). Thanks for the conversations, in the old days and now, but I'm going to restrict myself to things I enjoy. One of them is being a fan of the Pats. One of them is not banging my head against the wall. :D
Well then, happy birthday! Good for you for trying and learning new things at age 75.

Not sure if I ever told you but I have been teaching guitar for the last 10 years. I mostly teach children but have been teaching a 72-year-old adult and it has been so wonderful. He is so open to learning and really practices a lot unlike some of the kids who get distracted easily. I am actually thinking of marketing myself more toward older adults for this reason.

I agree with you that life is too short to spend being pessimistic. Even the griping I do up here over the patriots is really just a distraction as I do enjoy the team so much whether or not they are having success or not. At the end of the day it is just a sport and there is always another season.

I agree 100% with you that it was so rare to have Bill and Brady together. What a treat we had for two decades. I will always be forever grateful as a football fan to have had the best run in football history.

I think it only makes sense that in order to have a football team accomplish the best run in football history, the person in charge has to have been practicing the best approach to team building in football history.

Some inside Gillette tell me there's a good chance Pats at Raiders for week 1.
Advantage McDaniels. I don't like it bc Pats always start out slow.

I agree. My issue has always been Bill the last 6 years or so.

This is an oxymoron. I hope the Pats play the Raiders as much as possible. Probably the most positive thing to happen this Patriots off-season. Addition by subtraction.

1. I think BB's systems/schemes are complicated and it takes several games for the players to get them so they react rather than think, and even more time for BB to keep tweaking the system to match what the players (especially the new ones) do best and learn quickest and re-arrange the schemes to match the abilities of each player and combo of players. This pretty much guarantees a slower start.

2. Given a choice, I would prefer 2001 Pats (start slowly, have it come together later is season, and peak at the end) as opposed to 2007 where they came on strong early, peaked midseason, and dropped off at the end. That year the Giants started slowly and hit their stride the last game of the regular season, and peaked at the superbowl.

Ever run any local 10K's? It isn't how fast you come off the line, but how strong you finish that matters. In the NFL the goal is: 1) make the playoffs, then 2) be playing your best football in the playoffs. As long as 2) happens, it really don't matter how you got into the playoffs. Not to belabor this, but 2007 Patriots and 2007 GIants.

I'm just happy BB addressed . My biggest complaint getting speed on the outside . Teams exposed BB conservative play calling. No outside threats to.end the year. Im looking forward to seeing how he uses Parker , Thompson & maybe Agholor on the 15-20 yard routes

Schedule announcements today!

Hearing Pats are in GB for game 4.

Jets are a wild card IMO depending on Wilson BUT you could be right. They had a great draft. I just don't see team surpassing the Bills. Bills could be the best team in the AFC right now.
Not buying it, Jets have great FA and draft supposedly every year and they are still the Jets. As for Wilson, I don't need to see more than last season, he can have all the physical tools in the world and if you can't read defenses and gets happy feet in the pocket it won't matter. Also, his "physical" skills to me are as overrated as Macs are underrated.

For me they are a wild card. I like Selah. I think he is probably their best coach in a while. Wilson looked better the last quarter of the season so I guess we will see if he can take a step forward. I disagree on his skillset. He has a fantastic skillset but it remains to be seen if he can refine it and become like Allen has in Buffalo.

Leaks per Lazar

Week 4 @ GB 4:25
Week 5 vs. Det 1 p.m.
Week 7 vs. Chi 8:30 (MNF)

That should be 2 wins
