What was the last show you binged, and was it worth the time?

There's a new show on AMC called Darkwinds that looks good. Dwight Shrute is innit. It starts in June.

Robert Redford is part of this!

Just finished episode 7 of Stranger Things. I really thought this show was going off the cliff but they totally redeemed themselves. It's like Stranger Things all grown up. Much darker, scarier and gorier than any of the previous seasons. 👍👍 I can't wait till July. Only problem is Volume 2 will only have two episodes.

I been waiting for this one.

Stranger Things 4, I've seen all three seasons. I have yet to start season 4 due to a long list of other things on my list. Hockey and basketball has been filling my time lately .

I keep seeing previews for that one while I'm inexplicably still watching Fear The Walking Dead. I just set it to record. 🤘

I am not sure why I am still watching it to be honest. Oh,wait, waiting for Madison which they float in front of me.

I'll plug "Joe Pickett" for fans of Longmire, Jack Reacher and Yellowstone-type shows.

It's based on a series of novels by C.J. Box, of which I'd read several, wherein the title character is a game warden in Wyoming and gets involved in some complex crimes that
don't just involve animals. There are currently 4 episodes on Paramount plus and a couple on Prime with a new episode each week. So far, it seems
well done and absorbing to me.

On an unrelated note, my wife isn't a fan of scary anything, but I've convinced her to try Stranger Things and she is hooked on Season 1.

I knew once she tried it the kids would win her over and my diabolical plan is working. Can't wait to watch the new season, but I'm enjoying
revisiting it.

I should just give up on the entire franchise but I'm so damn invested in it at this point I'm going to ride it out.

If she isn't a fan of scary anything then she will NOT enjoy season 4. :ROFLMAO:

And that is what it comes down to, same with TWD as well. I'm pitiful. LOLOLOL

In the middle of Outer Range (Amazon Prime) right now.

Very weird, in a good way.

Still not sure what the frack is going on.

Still haven't gotten there, but I've been interested to see how this would evolve because of the structure of the show.

I've heard folks comment that ST has something for everyone. There's a reason for that. ST S1 was kind of three different shows, and this appeared to be blatant and intentional:
  • When focused on the kids they used all the beats, styles, tones and tropes of a coming of age adventure movie (ET, Stand By Me, It).
  • When focused on the teens it was a teen horror movie (F13th, the Ring, etc.).
  • When focused on the adults it was a government conspiracy/horror/monster/kids-threatened movie (the mist, Serenity, Ransom etc.)

Plot and execution aside, it was really interesting from a filmmaking perspective. But as the kids age into the teenage bracket, I wonder if the center can hold, so to speak. I mean there are the transitional coming of age beats to work through as they get/lose girlfriends and their friendship is tested as they develop new interests, but those are usually just that: transitional. Those are the phases that are intentionally made to not quite feel right to the audience, so we share the characters' lack of seeing settled roles. But they hit some of those in S3, and that's not a place you want to live for very long.

So that leaves moving them into the teen horror world. And if we're going to exchange ET for The Ring and Stand By Me for Friday the 13th to whatever degree, then...yeah, I can see it getting darker fersher. I guess that makes sense.

Phew, for I am not sure either.

Well, I'm only through episode 4, but I can give some idea as to what's going on.

Spoiler alert. I'll put it in quotes so those who want to avoid it can.

OK filler for the quote bit

yup

more space

I think this should be far enough.

OK, clearly there is time travel going on.

The Buffalo with the arrows presumably is from the past and the arrows are from Indians.

Royal, clearly traveled to the future when Autumn tossed him in the hole. She clearly knows more than she's said about what's going on here, as does Daddy Tillerson, since he's hell bent on getting the west pasture.

It also can do time and space translations since the dead brother ended up on the mountain a few days later, but only had been dead for 10 hours.

Also that's probably got to do with the to of the mountain vanishing.

I think there was a bit of foreshadowing when someone said to Royal (his wife?) something to the effect of "if you could only go back in time". You could see Royal give a "Hmmmm maybe I can" in his head.

No idea what the moving black flecks in the rock are.

I venture to guess that Rebecca, the missing mom, will turn up at some point and be another victim of a space-time jump. Don't think you actually have to fall in the hole for that to happen, since they said that there was a history of people disappearing in the area. Maybe the hole moves around and people fall into it else where.

I've got a gut feeling that some of the names of the characters are not accidental.

Royal is not a first name I've ever heard used before.

Autumn, can clearly be symbolic as the transition from the growing season to the cold of winter.
