“I think Mac Jones is doing all the right things, but is New England helping him?” an offensive coach said. “We have been told his quarterback coach is Joe Judge, and I can’t name the last time he’s developed any quarterbacks. The head coach is more involved, but there are 57 other moving parts on any given day that Bill Belichick must attend to. Unless Bill gets 48 hours in a 24-hour day, then he is not getting enough time to develop a quarterback.”

It seems that Pees would disagree.

Oh boy, Mac gonna surprise some folks this year.

18. Mac Jones

Jones makes his QB Tiers debut with a 3.06 average, the 10th-best debut among 49 newcomers since 2015. Herbert (2.14), Prescott (2.52), Mayfield (2.53), Garoppolo (2.58), Burrow (2.58), Watson (2.60), Murray (2.68), Wentz (2.92) and Cousins (2.93) made higher debuts. Mahomes was lower simply because he had started only one game, so voters placed him in Tier 4 provisionally for lack of evidence.

“Mac is going to make good decisions — he sees it,” a defensive coordinator said. “But I don’t think he can carry the game by himself. To me, he is going to be like a Kirk Cousins type where if their team around him is good then I think they will make the playoffs and maybe do some damage.”

Voters respected the way Jones succeeded in a high-pressure environment at Alabama, then went to another high-pressure situation in New England and reached the playoffs as a rookie. A head coach who faced Jones said the quarterback impressed him in live action, showing enough to suggest he might ascend into Tier 2. Others noted that Jones possessed no special traits.

“I think if Mac Jones wasn’t in New England and with that hype machine, maybe he would be viewed a little differently,” a coach from an AFC East rival said. “If Mac Jones was in Jacksonville last year, how would he have been? How would people feel about him?”

No one is comparing New England to Jacksonville, but voters did express consternation over the Patriots’ handling of their offensive staff following Josh McDaniels’ departure to the Raiders.

I think they just called Mazz. Also, the bitterness from the Bills Linebacker Coach is frickin hilarious. Jacksonville's not GOOD because you lost to them. :coffee:

I think that write-up is pretty spot on. This is why I wanted Bill to go out and get him some more dynamic playmakers. It's not just Mac that needs a great team around him but every Qb given how offensively focused the league is. There are some folks predicting that Chiefs may have a down year just from losing Hill. That is how important the explosive, game changing type of players are to a team. Also, many have the Bucs rated over the Packers because of the loss to Adams.

But I think the last graph is the most important. Mac has the goods at least based on last year. Smart, tough, competitive, makes good decisions. But the coaching decisions are mind boggling. Judge/Patricia is about the worst combo you could put together for a QB entering his second season after having a really good rookie season. As usual, we will see if Bill can spin his magic but the staff does not give much promise. At least Mac has showed up in great shape and ready to do some damage so maybe he can overcome it.

Bucs signed Julio Jones to one year deal.

i thought parcells was a lb?

You're right! My bad...not sure why I thought that. HMMMM...although TE and LB are actually similar. Whatever. Congrats!

Who is ranking these teams for Madden? Weren't the Bengals just in the SB? They're ranked 11th?
The Ravens at 5!? The Cowboys, lol. And how the Chiefs have fallen!

FYgkPpbX0AEo3TV
fantasy football BS ratings...most likely.

It's a stupid argument. If Shaggy was on the Pats, he would abso/fucking/lutely be much better. Or Wilson. Or Mills. Or...fill in the blank.

Apparently Kyler Murray needs a study hall

nfl live mentioned the fact that murray has already let the world know months ago that he doesn't g.a.f. about studying.

“I think I was blessed with the cognitive skills to just go out there and just see it before it happens,” Murray said. “I’m not one of those guys that’s going to sit there and kill myself watching film. I don’t sit there for 24 hours and break down this team and that team and watch every game because, in my head, I see so much.”

I can actually see this happening. If you've done it a million times, breaking things down could be boring for many people. It's more theoretical instead of actually being there and doing it live.

If you're good to amazing at certain things, eh. I can run heavy equipment better than most people. It's just a feeling/intuition thing. It's also part of pushing the machine as much as you can without going over the edge to failure. I wouldn't want to fine-tune anything that's already working fine. It's not about being lazy, but, it's best to practice on the field, in the action.

I have no idea where to put this so here it is:

How to watch football like an expert from the comfort of your couch

I knew roughly 85% of this but even at that there was a nugget in most of the explanations that I found interesting to read. I suspect this will 100% review for some planet people and will be a complete eye opener for others.

You may need to use creative means to read this if you don't subscribe. This has been described on PP before.

That explains a lot honestly.
