The Golf thread

I’m out there to have fun, the day I throw a club, is the day I quit. Both my FIL and hubby get mad because I don’t take golf as serious as I “should”....lol. For example I play in a 9 hole women’s league we have a blast we play at night so a few of us may have had a drink or 2 before we even tee off. Im there to have fun and hang out, and teach the next generation of women how to play, understand the rules, golf “etiquette”. All those silly things lol, but dam do we have fun.

I'm also out there to have fun and to enjoy just being out there. However once I get ready to tee off I'm as serious as I always have been about competing. With golf the only one you are competing against is yourself. So yes, I get pissed when I play and utter some bad words. I'll sometime drop or slam my club in the ground. But the guys I play with usually laugh or I apologize right away.
In the end it doesn't mean anything because I have had fun and I have enjoyed just being out there.
When I do get pissed it's aways at myself. I set myself properly for the shot, focus entirely on the shot, then either top it or hit behind it, that is what pisses me off, nothing eles.

Oh trust me I’ve utter a few obscenities myself, and I do get pissed at myself, absolutely. But I’ve never throw a club nor will I. My husband plays in a lot of tournaments and he can be a headcase from time to time. So when he loses it I usually say this is why you get paid the big bucks in your day job, he usually turns aand chuckles.

Tony Finau has been really been killing it the last couple of weeks. He's one of of my favorite players. I'd love to see him win the Fedex championship.

We followed him fro hi sports 6 holes yesterday. Obviously, he had the largest crowds. He hit his drive about 10 feet from us on #1. He isn't as big as I thought. He played well yesterday. We hung out in the chalet at 17 until he putted out and then beelined for the busses to beat the crowd. No way he was going to blow that lead.

So the LIV clowns are suing to get back on the PGA tour/FedEx events, so much for less golf and more time with the family and local charities.

I pretty much assume they will lose. They joined the tour, accepted the rules and then violated the rules.

When the LIV tour inevitably collapses the PGA should make them go through Q school if they want their cards back.

When the LIV tour inevitably collapses the PGA should never give them their cards back. FYP

I've still been playing a lot this summer but my game seems to be spiraling out of control. The fact that I seemed so much better when I picked the clubs back up is what hooked me. But now every time I go out I see glimpses of my old self out there. Don't get me wrong, I'll still hit a great shot here and there and my putting seems improved but I just can't put a finger on what else is going wrong. I watched some videos and came up with a couple really fundamental things that I have always been doing wrong so I will give them a try the next time I get out.

When you go off your game, getting back is one of God's great challenges. Good luck and be well.

True! it is such a precise game.
funny thing is I had clubs for years but never really tried to learn the right techniques... just hacked at it and drank beer.
this year I've been watching vid's and practicing and I can't believe what a difference it makes when, ya know, you actually swing an iron like it needs to be to make the ball go up in the air based on the club in use.
playing Friday so we'll see how it is progressing. I'll actually keep legit score this time and aim to break 90 (on the front nine) then see if I can do it again on the back nine!
(I know, old joke, but applicable here)

Yeah, it’s tough. My swing broke at the end of June, and now it’s better than ever. For me, it is about keeping my hands in close. When my hands get away from my body, all Hell breaks loose.

Once you figure one thing out, something else goes wrong. That's just the reality of the game.
