Week 2, 2022 - Pats @ Pittsburgh

Really? how many points did the Rams score in that superbowl? Lack of a run defense is a killer no matter what your passing is like. It's hard to complete a pass when your O sits for 6-7-8 minute drive that end in a rushing TD time after time. That 6 1/2 minute drive to close out the Steelers was nothing compared to how we ran on the Rams.

I understand your point on Mac's ceiling going up if he had a better weapons, and note that you applied the same criteria to Josh Allen (he's a much better QB after he got Diggs) and Tua (post Tyreek). But I submit that gaining WR talent did not make them better QBs, only that they are the same QB with better stats post-Hill and Diggs.

I think one of the marks of Brady's greatness wasn't him playing with Moss, Welker and Stallworth on the field in 2007, but rather in 2001 when Troy Brown was his #1, and David Patten and Fred Coleman as #2 and #3 WRs. Not to mention TEs Jeremain Wiggins (can catch but not block my grandmother) and Rod (hand of cement) Rutledge.

I don't think Mac Jones gets nearly the credit he deserves for reaching the playoffs with the receivers he had and as a rookie. All the focus was in losing the playoff game, but it's remarkable that we got there at all.
The AFCCG prior required Brady to outduel Mahomes. The defense was toast in that game.

I am not sure I understand your point about saying that Allen has better stats with Diggs. Those stats equate to points which equats to wins - much easier wins than the ones the Pats are going to have to squeak out all season long.

I think Mac has gotten plenty of credit for last year. Not just getting the team to the playoffs but also finishing second to Chase for rookie of the year. The issue is this year. His second year when Bill decided having a defensive minded head coach and special teams coach be his offensive coordinators.
if Mac does regress this year it is 100% on Bill for not getting him better coaches to make sure he took a step forward this year and in concert with that also getting him receivers that are on par with the other teams in the AFC. Neither one of those things has happened and so here we are wondering what this season will look like and making comparisons to championship seasons from 20 years ago.

I agree about not knowing his ceiling but that is also hard to judge because he does not have high end talent. Look at what happened to Allen's game when he got Diggs these past 2 seasons. And now look at Tua since he got Hill. Also look how a QB like Rodgers is struggling withouBt Adams. At some point, Bill or another GM needs to break the bank a little and get Mac a top end weapon.
Prior to Moss, 2007, who, 'cept mazz the magnificent, thought TFB had "high end" talent???

I see this catch by other teams every week and don't hear all the bull about should have been an int. In the other games they say he just went and got it from the defender and leave it at that.
The play I was talking about was when Mac Jones threw it right into Cam Sutton's arms.
The other play was the muff.
It's nothing your team did there.

If we don't screw ourselves on those 2 plays... who knows what would have happened.

Anyway, good game, I bow down to you fans 2 weeks in.
It's a long season.

A point I made in another thread was thank goodness the season is not just two games. The point being to those who were dumping on the Pats.It is a long season but at least we are not 0-2 like some teams. Oh vey.

.
Exactly. THere is no reason to believe you would then have won.

Muff = you are assuming that the Steelers would have driven 80 yards to a TD?????

Pick = Could have been 0, 3, or 7 points.

BUT...there are also plays where we fucked up that had they gone differently the game could have been a Patriots blowout win.

Besides, to make a point that any given play makes difference, you are assuming the game would have continued as it did after you took the lead following the pick and TD. Pats spent most of the 4th quarter running out the clock which wouldn't have been the case at all.

Losing sucks when the damage is self-inflicted, but both teams do it, and the refs also make mistakes. The team that makes the fewest mistakes usually wins. That makes them the better team that day.

WUT? Are you serious? Are you dissing Reche Caldwell, our leader receiver the year before Moss? And what about my man David Givens who was our top yardage receiver in at least one year?

But...how weird is it the Pats fans are saying that Brady carried the team with his talent and Little Miss Contrary is claiming he had top talent around him for his career????

That is the main issue with some Pats fans, is they think that greatest run in football history with the greatest player in football history can be repeated. What is sad, is Bill believes the same thing or at least is so mired in old school that he can't see the blind spots anymore.

Thank God we have you.

What really pisses me off is Bill seems to be ignoring you.

Cheers

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, my aunt wouldn't bump her ass when she hopped. :coffee:

Nah, but you can have your opinion. You are just remembering the last 6 t0 8 minutes. And it still only ended in a 3 point win.
Since you're hung up on this 3 point win how about we try this? What if you guys had won by 3 points? And then we came to you and said yeah you only won by 3 point more than once? That if we had done this or not done that we would have won or anything else that has been said. Would you say to yourself or to us yeah but we still won?🙂

We still won regard of the points. Some games are blowouts, some games are nail biters and some guys end in a tie. 🙂

Done talking about the points. You all can but done.

...in which case it's not a win. Or am I missing something and a tie is not, in fact, like kissing your sister and instead like kissing your ATF crush whom you also are deeply in love with? At sunset? In the hills of County Kerry? On a unicorn's back?

You are going to "make me" talk about it.🤣🤣
Reread, I said a win is a win minus a tie.

But bravo, your post made me giggle and that made Jasper laugh

Lol. That was funny

Do you want Tomlin to bench Trib and go with one of the other 2 qbs?

Whereas you're smart enough to jump off that bandwagon and find a different place to be a temporary fan.

Got it.

It is fun when you reveal yourself plainly.
