So, what about the Colts? NOT THE GAME THREAD!

I happen to think Jeff Saturday is a pretty good guy, despite being a former Colt, and I wish he had the good sense to say no to this bizarre situation.

I can think back to a couple of seasons ago when Frank Reich was looking like a damn good HC who had turned a bad team around in short order and yet
here we are. Shit changes fast in the NFL.

I know that Jim Irsay has had a lot of issues over the years, but this move makes no sense on any level.

The only way this could get stupider would be if he hired one of Eddie Van Halen's guitars from his collection to coach the team.

Still, you have figure that they want to tank for C.J. Stroud or whoever, so this is a solid move to achieve that.

Tanking for the #1 pick and then choosing the obvious top QB sometimes works, and sometimes it doesn't.

The Andrew Luck Experience is Exhibit A for the "sometimes it doesn't work" outcome (choosing a Colts-relevant scenario - there are lots of #1 overall QB picks that are even more famous as complete failures).

Agreed. I feel bad for Saturday.

Makes me happy to have the ownership situation we do.

I sometimes wonder what Luck could have become if he wasn't getting sacked 55 times a year or whatever it was. They said Luck was a bright guy and he proved it by quitting
football before they could completely scramble his brains.

I don't think their mistake was in picking him, but all we have is what actually happened to go on.

Has Jeff had any coaching experience. He's a good guy and does know football, but you need coaching experience to be a HC.

The NFL needs to watch this closely. I don't think that the players will tank the rest of the season. But putting an inexperience guy at HC could be Irsays way of trying to tank to get a top QB.

Can we tell @TylerD please? 🤣
Lmao there is no rivalry. We were smoked 26-3

Humiliating

Then I see my Oilers lose three straight.

Why do sports Gods hate me 😞

I pay my taxes, treat my wife and kid good, help the homeless!

…. Well I don’t really help the homeless. But the rest are true.

Just let my god damn teams win!

Anyway back to work.

If Irsay would really put a friend and loyal former employee on the block as a sacrificial lamb to achieve tanking status, he's a considerably bigger douche than even I thought. And I've always considered him to be a big one.

I don't have any stronger-than-normal dislike for Peyton. He seems like a good guy overall, and was an excellent QB. But I doubt he was awesome to work with (for, let's be honest) as his OC, leading the line that protected him. I've got nothing but respect for Jeff Saturday for how he handled that, especially on those famous occasions when it became public.

Someone should tell them that Arch Manning isn’t in this draft.

If Luck had stuck around and gone to another team, he might have had a Jim Plunkett type of career. He reminded me of Plunkett a little bit.

I was considering throwing my hat in as well, but I fear that my one year of high-school ball and 2 years of coaching my daughter's flag football team (with an undefeated season) makes me over qualified.

I agree that you sound overqualified. Way over.

Now that I think about it, I probably spent 4 or 5 hours doing mock drafts this past Spring, so I should send them a resume to take over as Player Personnel Director. Possibly the overall GM
because I've read a lot of stuff about trades and salaries and so forth.

My first offical move as GM will be to trade Darius Leonard and Quentin Nelson to New England for 2nd round picks in 2023 and 2024. You can't have too many of those, so it's
a fair deal for both sides.

:)
