Patriots vs Vikings 8:20 on NBC Game Thread

At first I was yelling for Mac to throw it, but on one of them they showed the view from behind Mac and there was no where to go with it without risking a pic.

I was worried the D was getting overhyped after feasting on Ehlinger and Zack Wilson
now Justin Jefferson is just Stupid good, and they kept Dalvin Cook in check, but too many yards and points

and the uncharacteristically bad special teams was a killer
missed holding on the kickoff return for a Vikes TD but that crap happens

Same problem Orlovsky called out a week ago. Mac is ready to throw and none of the WRs heads are even turned. The WR routes and QB dropbacks are not synced up and that’s on the novice crappy offensive staff

Red Zone offense again., 0-3 and they were 3-5.

But look, we went to the raucous house of an 8-2 team and we pushed them all the way and could have won this bar some mistakes.

The team has potential; you can see it. But the offense must be fixed somehow. But Mac was a lot better and listening to the guys on the Pats post-game show, they thought he was the best they've seen him since the Browns game last season,

Tough break folks. It was a really good game for the full 60. Surprided the Pats defense had as much trouble as they did, but the Vikings are a solid team this year so I guess a shoot out shouldn’t be that surprising.

Gonna be interesting to see who makes wild card. The colts are going to win out so it should put some pressure on New England.

might be the first thursday with good games in a loooong time...😄
should be a wake up call for the d

I thought we'd contain JJefferson much better than we did. The guy uses all his tools to win and makes it look easy. When he recognized the Pats were bracketing him he ran right through the bracket for ez catches since no one was over the top to stop him. Smart player. Back in the '20 draft most pundits thought the best WRs were Bama's Ruggs and Jeudy. I wasn't a fan of either. For me it was between Lamb and Jefferson. I still can't understand why the Eagles chose Jalen Reagor over Jefferson. It didn't matter for the Pats since our 1st pick was TE Devin Asiasi in round 3.

Kevin O'Connell has gained a deserved reputation of being great at scripting opening drives. I didn't think he'd be able to do it against us for a TD but he did.

It looked like a catch to me. He had possession & the ball did shift when it hit the ground but his hand was under the ball & he never lost possession.
Here's the official explanation which I don't agree with. That was a catch based on the 2018 rule changes that came about from the Dez Bryant controversy.
Walt Anderson is using the 2018 rule to disallow a TD catch in 2022. BS

Here's the new rule

A player who makes a catch may advance the ball. A forward pass is complete (by the offense) or intercepted (by the defense) in the field of play, at the sideline, or in the end zone if a player, who is inbounds:

a. secures control of the ball in his hands or arms prior to the ball touching the ground; and

b. touches the ground inbounds with both feet or with any part of his body other than his hands; and

c. after (a) and (b) have been fulfilled, performs any act common to the game (e.g., tuck the ball away, extend it forward, take an additional step, turn upfield, or avoid or ward off an opponent), or he maintains control of the ball long enough to do so.

Notes:

  1. Movement of the ball does not automatically result in loss of control.
  2. If a player, who satisfied (a) and (b), but has not satisfied (c), contacts the ground and loses control of the ball, it is an incomplete pass if the ball hits the ground before he regains control, or if he regains control out of bounds
