What To Do After Patricia’s Lions Contract Ends in 2022

I'm ready for a full-on tank. May as well try for a top-10 pick at this point to fit into next year's squad. We're all putting blame different places (and blame pie percentages and all that), but we all see the same result. This team's not going anywhere, and winning games at this point is just going to hurt their draft position. After the season, re-evaluate.

There are plenty of pieces in place and lots of talent on this team. It's time to figure out what's holding it back, and adjust accordingly, but it's too late to fix that this year.
This is as accurate a post as I've seen. The fan in me would love to see the team put up a real fight over the next 5 games and some how get into the the playoffs, but what does that get us in the long run. Does anyone really believe that we can do anything if we get there? In my mind the worse thing that can happen at this point is Bill going into the offseason thinking that Patricia and Judge handling Mac Jones and the offense is working. No matter where any of us want to place blame, I think that most of us can agree that the worst outcome for this season would result in them returning. How can we even begin to evaluate players accurately with the system they've been put in?

it’s been quite the reversal here to see people who would snap at anyone critical of the Patriots, to now seeing talk of tanking. the blind homers have lost their minds and don’t know what to do.
I can't blame them, they want this to work so do all of us that are Pats fans. It's not, clearly.

If BB never signed sCam, started Stidham...the Pats would have ended up with Lawrence. He SHOULD have done that, but, whatever.

I don't see BB tanking it though. Tanking can be a very strategic and wise decision if the owner is in the know and in agreement of it. That's just my opinion though.

Where do you go with the top15 pick? I think it’s got to be defense. Either MLB or FS or CB1, and also still get a Ted Washington NT in later rounds or FA. Fix Trent, slide Onwenu to RT, and plug some veteran free agent guards.

That's the frustrating part with the coaching as it is. How much is it lack of talent vs awful scheme and coaching. It's not sexey but I think they have to look at both tackle positions, and even Center.

In order to tank, you have to have a highly unethical and immoral owner leading the charge, not just being OK with it.

most of this on offense is bad coaching imo. tons of penalties, bad situational football, clock management...all more coaching problems.

I honestly think Bill O’Brien would have put up 500 points this year with this 2TE personnel plus the RBs and WRs

What franchise has tanking ever worked for?

I’m trying to think of one. The most obvious is the suck for luck campaign. They did end up with Luck.
Spurs. Mavericks. NBA, but, yeah.

Texans are currently doing it. It remains to be seen what will happen in the future for them.

Phil Perry was speculating that the Patricia / Judge coaching arrangement is BB's preferred plan going forward over that of hiring BOB. The reason being that if BOB or someone similar would potentially be only a very short term plan since that person would want to move on.

If Bill wants to continue with this current staff next season there needs to be questions about his mental state. I LOVE him and I don't believe Perry has any clue but day-yam.

Kraft would need to step in.

I too think BB may run it back with Patricia and Judge next year and media will absolutely lose their minds in the off-season.

It makes sense that BB wanted it to be this way, but, it's currently not working.

at minimum he has to get a good qb coach. they can be blocked from moving on if they get promoted to oc i think.

agree this should be fixed asap. Joe Judge has no business ruining Mac daily in the QB room with his high school crap tips. Maybe go fix special teams.
