Coaching Profile: BOB is a local from Dorchester, MA who has a brain on his shoulders, went to Brown University. Coached in college for 10 years before working with the Patriots from 2007-2011, coaching WRs, QBs, and served as offensive coordinator for the explosive 2TE Patriots offense that was also one of TB12’s best and most efficient seasons (won the MVP). BOB then turned around the embattled Penn State program before going to the Houston Texans. After several above-average Texans seasons, he has been OC at Alabama.

BOB is the Houston Texans’ winningest coach in franchise history. He won 4 AFC South Division Titles. BOB is easily the best NFL coach out of BB’s tree. There were several bad trades when he was GM for a year, but I strongly posit it was actually conman Jack Easterby who wrecked the team and O’Brien took the fall. Contrary to superficial belief, it was well documented how much of a fraud Jack Easterby was, how Littlefinger Easterby was pulling strings behind the scenes, and also how Easterby was the one who pushed for disastrous trades.

See the SI article below:

Positives and Negatives:
  • BOB knows the Patriots system and also is the best option to make the expensive, immovable Hunter/Jonnu TE tandem work.
  • BOB also knows Mac and the Alabama system, so is uniquely suited to fix our broken promising QB.
  • BOB is probably overqualified to be just an OC so likely will need an Assistant HC title to entice him.
  • Negatives: he has a reputation as a hot-head so that will need some adjustment (or therapy). He should stay away from the war room, focus on coaching, and let Groh/Wolf run the front office. Finally, he seems to not be able to beat great teams - both on the Texans but also on the Pats, he seems to not be able to win in the playoffs but I am hopeful he would get better at this over time.

It's not out of the question that he's the new Head Coach. I could see Bill being stubborn enough to insist on bringing Patrica back as Offensive Coordinator and that's something that could force Krafts hand.

Others may feel differently but I’m ok with BOB as heir apparent and paired with Steve Belichick as DC in 2025 (or whenever)

you don't fire a hc with 6 sbs after one bad year. utter nonsense.

Not talking about HC. Ideal to slot in as Asst HC and OC to be cavalry for the goat HC. I’m all in especially after today.

No, utter nonsense is trading a pro bowl guard for a 5th round pick and then using a 1st round pick on a guy that wasn't projected to go until at least the 3r, who has since been since been benched 3 times. Utter nonsense is trading up for a wr in the 2nd that had no business being pick until the late rounds just because he was fast, then having to put a CB in on offense just generate a threat. I could go on but the Bill bo bos will excuse everything because of past performance. 😒

i'm not excusing the coaching decision. bringing all the other stuff into it that may or may not be true but we don't have the evidence yet either way is shit guys get mad at us for doing to them.

Fire Patricia, Rothstein, Judge, Caley immediately. 1st and goal at the 6 and screw it up. CLEAN HOUSE !!!

You do if he refuses to replace Patricia as the OC next season. Don't care if it's O'Brien, just someone that actually coaches on that side of the ball for a living. I'd rather it be his decision to replace him but if Kraft forces his hand and he accepts it then fine. And if they are going to keep Judge please put him in charge of ST's, it's the only thing he does well, otherwise get rid of him.

Right, it wasn’t just Patricia or having him learn two new things at once (OC and OLine). It was also Joe Judge went from the league’s worst NFL offense on the Giants and ruining Daniel Jones, to now messing up Mac Jones

he's not going into 23 with the current offensive staff, no way.

You are 100% correct, Bill needs to do some serious self evaluation or this team will continue to implode. I said at the beginning of the season that he had earned the right to prove his way still works. Well he got the season and it clearly doesn't.

BOB may be the easy and most obvious answer but I'm not in love with the idea. Bama's offense was no great shakes this year and got worse as the year went on.
I kind of agree, but then i think if matt was even 15% better at his job we have 3 more wins. With that being said i feel like bob would be 75% better then matt :)

Fixed your post. No coffee.

Maybe had something to do with Bryce Young getting injured & not being quite 100% the rest of the season. :shrug-n2:
