The Pats waste no time. Big changes are coming for the coaching staff and the players. Let's get this right!

Hadn't thought of Charlie Weis, Jr. but his aggressive offense at Ole Miss under Lane Kiffin has changed that team's fortunes.
I notice he left out Chad O'Shea who spent 10 years coaching the Pats' offense.

So do we get NEM Jr. with this signing?

I thought about O'Shea as a potential candidate, strong familiarity with the Pats org, showed a decent bit of promise as the Pass Game coordinator in Cleveland, but I wonder if other teams might also be looking at giving him a chance as a full OC

Shrine Bowl Feb 2
Senior Bowl Feb 4
Super bowl Feb 12

It's about 2 weeks till when the Pats coaches are working the Shrine Bowl. Might be MP's last chance to coach the O.

Similar for the scouts at the Senior Bowl.

No, I think Matt is done with the offense as of yesterday and I also think he's happy about that.

From Phil Perry, possible OCs

Zac Robinson with Rams now.

Drew Petzing QB coach with Browns, was interviewed by Josh for LV job.

Hot take but I don’t care if Jerod Mayo stays or not. Are we even sure he’s a good coach? Steve Belichick has done a good job for many years now. Wouldn’t bend over backwards to keep Mayo. The offensive side of the ball at OC needs the most fixing on the staff. O’Brien + Steve Belichick = contender

Things to do. Pretty good outline

Just want to point out that I've stood up for that 2020 draft before, and the resigning priorities are making me do so again. With no first round pick, the 2020 draft produced
Dugger
Uche
Jennings
Onwenu

You could make a case that Dugger was the 2nd best player on our defense, and Uche & Jennings have both emerged as valuable pieces. Onwenu was either the best or 2nd best player on our offense this year.

...so for my money, if you're keeping track that's three outstanding drafts in a row. This core is filling out.

Do a little reading on Mayo.

My understanding of Mayo and SB is that they make a great team. They get along very well. SB doesn't like to be the guy in the front of the room talking to the group but prefers to sit in the back with timely comments. Mayo on the other hand likes to be the team leader in charge in the front.

If they get Mayo signed as DC think the both of them are glad that SB is a lieutenant.

Really from what I have read and heard Mayo is the real architect of the D Steve Belichick just does the game time calls.

There's a reason he's getting HC job interviews.
Mayo knows the game and he's a leader of men. He loves teaching the game. The players have bought into him 100%. They love the guy. Players know. Players talk.

Keep the defense great.

Asst. HC vs DC? I vote Asst. HC but my vote doesn't count.

OC for sure but both things can be done.

mayo is awesome and definitely will be a hc some day. great move to lock him up.

I don't want to keep repeating myself, but Bill should pick up the phone and ask Paul Alexander if he has the itch to return to the NFL as his
Offensive Line Coach.

Alexander is a very interesting dude who has coached extensively at every level including 26 years in the NFL. He's 62 and has coached a
long list of all-pro O linemen. He recently decided to spend more time with his daughter, a pianist, so, he enrolled in a college course and became an
accomplished concert pianist who wrote a book about his experiences. He earned a master's degree in exercise physiology in 2012 and,
among many other diverse career accomplishments, was named to SI's "coaching dream team".

What I don't know about him is a lot, such as whether he and Bill know and/or like each other, but it stands to reason they do. Know each other. The
lifers all do. Whether he wants to get back to coaching in the NFL is completely unknown, because as far as I can tell nobody has asked him, but his
enthusiasm for the game is very high as anyone that has heard him talk about what he's seeing on NFL radio can attest.

Pick up the phone, Bill.
