The NFL 2023 Draft

If there is a true cb1 at 14 I would go there.

Agree
Best CB1 or OT available at 14. Don’t overthink it, the best big name player from an elite conference, not some random D3 guy just to try to seem smart.

What I loved about a guy like Matt Light (high 2nd rounder) was despite having difficulties in the NFL against speed, he protected Drew Brees’ blind side in college and was part of very prolific offenses. Ty Law was an elite corner when Michigan was elite and a perennial college powerhouse.

Don’t draft developmental no/name guys with the top pick when there are obvious players still left on the board.

The OTs in this class have gotten a lot of press. I think it's a deep class, but it's not top-heavy with an Orlando Pace or anything. I don't see anyone without obvious questions. Skoronski is short, has short arms, and doesn't yet have NFL play strength. Paris doesn't have the fluid athleticism you'd want to see. Etc.

I think there's a glut of strong OT prospects that I would generally value in the mid 1st to early 3rd, so the class overall is strong. Maybe 8 to as many as 14 or 15 if we're talking through the end of round 3. That's like one OT picked out of every 6 picks for the entire first two days!

This draft class kinda sucks on offense overall. TE and RB are strong. OT is deep. But it looks to me like a defensive draft.
What source are you using that shows a lot of OTs available?

There’s 4-5 names tossed around for the first round among OTs. Half of them are a bit undersized. I think it’s risky to wait till the 2nd round or 3rd round and take whoever is leftover among OTs. There isn’t a clear HOF OT but a couple high-end OTs, and then a drop-off in talent after that. No need to get cute here. Take the best OT or best CB1 on the board at pick14, no weird no-name picks to seem smart, just go with a blue-chip. Ty Law, Richard Seymour, Matt Light, Wilfork, Hightower, Chandler Jones were all blue chips. Gronk was the best TE of his class. Don’t overthink the first pick. Do the weird “look at how smart I am” sh-t in the later rounds.

I’d like to see a WR at 14, and LT addressed in FA with depth drafted in the later rounds.

The rest of the picks burn on defense.

This years CB group is loaded. One common theme is size. This is a big CB group through all three days. Plenty of 6'3" guys to choose.

Is it common to have 10 OTs with over an 80 draft grade. How many 2021 draft OTs had a pff grade over 80? I think half the names on this list aren’t really mentioned on other draft sites as first rounders. I’m not familiar with PFFs robustness in the college game, if one can see their metrics with the same rigor as their NFL grades

It's not a real draft grade, it's PFF's grade, so take it with a grain of salt.

Thanks
That image shows several names that I hadn't seen before.
Believe Jordan Morgan is going back to school.
And will check if Monhiem has declared for the draft.
There is also a by tackle from Penn State that has been highly ranked whose name I can't recall.
I haven't seen Alt's name on any of the draft sites. I check the underclassmen who have declared and his name was not on that list. I don't know when the deadline to declare is this year. In past years it's been around 1/25.
