The NFL 2023 Draft

uh oh, he said the "l" word...i am sure bb's ears perked up. 😄

LOL
Although historically it hasn't been lacrosse guys for draft history. But if Bill hears "can play special teams" or there is an opportunity to overdraft an injured college player, that's the sweet spot.

One thing that happens every (almost) Spring is that we collectively decide what position must be addressed in the 1st round and Bill decides to do
something different. Either he ignores the need we see or trades down. Then, that temporary need is forgotten and everybody moves on with their
lives.

Anyhow, this guy is getting some major props and figures to be drafted somewhere around our slot. I didn't see much Clemson football this year and
didn't know who Brian Bresee was, so I decided to check him out figuring that having a big, dominant interior D lineman is never a bad idea and if you don't
believe me then look at the rosters of the the 4 finalists this year and you'll see Chris Jones, Fletcher Cox, BJ Reader, Arik Armstead, Javon Hargraves and
a few others.

See what you think:

I'd love to have him! Most draft boards I've seen have him in the top 10 though. He's 8th on PFF's big board. He may drop if more than 3 QBs are taken ahead of him.
He's a disruptor more than he is a run stopper and that makes me wonder if BB would be interested in him as a DL for the Pats for the draft capital he'll take. Maybe Siaki Ika.

Moro Ojomo out of Texas. Length, lankiness, power, and movement remind me of Seymour, though he's not as pro ready and he takes plays off occasionally. His tape looks excellent, he does the tough stuff that doesn't show in stats, and my understanding is that he ate the IDLs up in practices last week - I haven't looked back at anything from that yet, though. I'd like to see him add 10 lbs, but he could be a monster in the DE (outside IDL) role in the 3 man front.

Plus, dude is so tough he only needs one vowel to get by in life.

EDIT: I'd want to know more about him speaking out about team culture earlier this year. On one hand, it's important that he cares about it. On the other, chain of command, going to the media...not looked upon fondly in Foxborough.

The Strange pick reminded me too much of the 2006 Mankins draft which I also hated (actually the entire 2005-2008 John Carroll idiot draft periods were all bad until Floyd Reese came in to consult and fixed things in 2009-2012).

The Patriots’ first dynasty was built on several draft picks from blue chip programs though. Richard Seymour from Georgia. Matt Light was the LT from Purdue directly after Drew Brees’ broke the college passing record. Ty Law from Michigan (and the goat QB). Wilfork from Miami. Woody from BC’s OLine pipeline. They went with blue chippers. This new front office hasn’t earned the right to do weirdass picks to seem smart, IMO, until they can build a champion first.

I see him projected from the late 2nd/early 3rd to early 5th rnd. I worry about a player who only started 30 of his 50 games played and a DE/Edge who only has 5 career sacks as a 5th year senior. 2nd team All Big 12 as a senior. Compare that to Barmore who made 1st team All American as a sophomore.

Yeah, he shouldn't have taken a media interview as an invitation to rip his team mates with his "holier than thou" attitude in public. Sarkisian wasn't happy.

Here's a mock draft that makes a lot of sense.

Tee Higgins is a guy who should be outstanding for the next 4 or 5 years, but wouldn't we have to resign him to keep him
past this coming season? A big year in '23 would mean the biggest WR contract we've ever done, which is not unthinkable, but
would be somewhat surprising. The uncertainty of all that would make this trade a bold move for this organization and a big risk, but
there is a lot to like in the player. He's proven himself, but is still young and getting better, which is on the rare side.

Also, I don't think Dawand Jones is going to last to 56. I expect him to rise quite a bit over the coming months. A guy that big who moves that well isn't going
to make it out of the 1st round. I'm good with him to be our starting RT, assuming he passes character evaluations. He'd be an
emphatic answer to one of our bigger needs. Pairing Jones with Onwenu would be a major problem for opponents.

I'd be happy with Jake Moody as well.

That was an interesting mock.

drafting jp jr would have the added bonus of making jp sr vomit having to root for the pats...😁
i think dugger can replace dmac.
