The 2023 AFC East

Wow. Incredibly risky move by the Dolphins IMO, dude is on eggshells, another concussion and Tua might well be done with football.

Miami didn’t have a lot of alternatives. Go with Tua for one more year and if this kid isn’t durable his career as a starter is likely finished. They should get him a special helmet for when he falls backwards. When the back of his head hits the turf he gets rocked.

Miami likes Tua as their QB and he did play very well this year. Obviously, they did their homework on his health and determined it was well worth a $23M bet that he lasts.
With the price of QBs these days, $23M is definitely a tempting bet to make. I understand their thought process and their conclusion. Now protect him better and scheme to get
the ball out of his hands fast.

Or don’t. :devilish:

"Dolphins are in on Tom Brady" :coffee:
mike Felger said on radio yesterday he spoke with someone (who can’t be named) in Brady’s camp and was told Brady wanted to go to dolphins but Miami didn’t want to go there after all that has happened with the tampering and have decided to stick with Tua
also said Brady wants to play for someone and is training for that

then they started theorizing that now that super G is back to modeling Brady feels he needs to get back to QBing

Mike Felger said all that, eh?

Rodgers on the Jets will be fun. Like when Favre did it.

Pats need to load up at CB1 and FS. Multiple good QBs in the AFC East to defend against.

Pats might be below the Bill, Dolphins, Jets

2023 will be interesting for sure whether Rodgers goes to the Jets or not.

They're going to end up getting like 20 games out of Von Miller, and paying for him until 2027.
He's going to be 34 in a couple weeks. His cap hit this year is down to only $8MM. Next year it is $24MM, and it costs them an additional $8.6MM if they cut him. When he's 36, they can cut him to save about $8.4MM of his $24MM 2025 cap hit.

As for Allen, his hit is over $18.6MM now. In a couple of weeks another $25MM of his bonus locks in. His future cap hits are 47.1, 56.6, 52.3, and 45.3MM$. They could theoretically restructure one more time next year to get a little relief, but the contract is designed to give the team a potential out with "only" $20MM dead cap after 2025, since no additional money locks in between this March and the 2026 offseason.

Looks like the Bills are keeping their window open a crack for this year while planning to eat some pain across the rest of the roster next season, and restructuring everything after 2025.
ATM they have 38 players signed for next year, totalling $226MM (more than their cap # for THIS year)
And they have 19 players signed for 2025, totalling $172MM.
4 of those players (Allen, Miller, Diggs, and Knox) total over $102MM. Looks like the plan is to restructure Tre' White next year, Knox & Diggs the following year.

For comparison, the Patriots have 32 players signed for next year, totalling less than half the cap number ($108MM) and 11 players signed for 2025, totalling $16MM.

Lots of flexibility for the Pats.
