Jakobi Meyers to the Raiders

That’s way reasonable money for the position. Not to mention Mac Jones comfort level with the player. Shoulda matched it.

Meyers likely moved on for one of 3 reasons: 1) Raiders paid more 2) Meyers is leaving for football reasons 3) Meyers is leaving for residential reasons. Maybe the Patriots didn't want to pay the contract, but there are other reasons people leave teams.

These kinds of trades are nothing new to us so we should be use to it by now, at least I am so I'm not all that upset about it. BB has to have someone in mind to replace Meyers so we'll just have to wait and see what transpires.
Let's assume that Meyers' targets are just distributed to folks currently on the roster, maybe minus a few. Are the Patriots really significantly worse off if those 96 targets (for 67 catches) go to Henry, Parker, Bourne, Thornton, and Stevenson?

Personally, I think it's at worst a neutral change if Henry, Parker, and Bourne get an extra 20 targets, and Thornton and Stevenson get an extra 10? Plus, that doesn't account for guys like M. Jones and Strong developing and absorbing some targets. Meyers is like a great set of training wheels, and Mac would lean on him for as long as he was available, getting open, moving the chains, and threatening no one. If he's here, he will end up #1 in targets.

Add someone twitchy and scary to deal with in the draft, plus a couple TEs, and let's go.

This sounds like a massive rationalization. As of right now, this team is worse offensively than yesterday, where are the aggressive moves Kraft claimed would be coming? A third string of lineman is doing shit to improve this team. People will say it's early, but other teams are making deals left and right to try and improve their teams, and we are?

People here were way off.

Meyers didn’t have a market and signed a below value deal at only 11M per year. In his prime age years. 850yards/year is excellent and he could easily be a thousand yard WR with more targets.

It is idiotic to then go burn even more assets (a draft pick or a ton more cash) to try to fix a self-created problem. Deja vu with the offensive guard position last year, turn a position into a problem and then waste a pick to fix the self created problem. Bourne, Parker, Thornton, this trio is a bottom10 WR corps in the league. Parker has a terrible catch rate and doesn’t fight for the ball, he will generate INTs for Mac. Thornton unclear this kid can even run a full route tree or not, or if he’s a 300yrd/season Bethel Johnson (for a 2nd round pick!!)

He loves throwing the ball to the Raiduhs...he felt the love last year.

If they wanted to move away from adequate playmakers, they needed to let Meyers walk. If you were bringing him in as a WR3 that would be one thing, but having him here as the established WR1, with his established relationship with Mac, would make it very difficult to move past him as the focal point of the offense.

Do you think the combination of Henry, Bourne, Thornton, and Parker getting an additional ~80 targets would have produced more than Meyers 804 yards and 6 TDs on 96 targets? I tend to think yes. Each of them except Thornton already had higher Y/T than Meyers, and it would have made the offense less predictable.

99 bottles of beer on the wall, 99 bottles of beer! Pull one done and pass it around 99 (still) bottles of beer on the wall!

Now repeat after DKF!

No, Bill traded up to draft a Jag last year, had he picked George, or Skymore, we wouldn't have to even worry about letting Meyers go. He'll, for that matter if he had drafted anyone other than Harry the same season he stumbled onto Myers as an unddrafted free agent we would even be further removed from this problem.

???? Some people once called Troy Brown an, "adequate play maker ", when that's all we had. Funny thing is, he became more than adequate as the players around him got better. No one was talking about featuring Myers as a number 1, but there's also something very, very, wrong with this picture when you are letting a young very productive offensive weapon go, from a team that's bereft of offensive weapons. It's not like he received an outrageous offer, it was below the market expectations, so how are we justifying this again? Oh, we're going to try and say Bourne and Parker, are going to be super duper now, because Mac's not going to have his most consistent and reliable weapon? This makes sense?

The below is ridiculous especially when the Pats had no qualms giving Agholor even more per year for less prior production. They wouldn’t match 11M? Starting to doubt whoever is doing analytics in this front office. If it’s that kid Rothstein he needs to be fired alongside the jettisoned Patricia

Well said

The backwards rationalizing here is weak.

Allen Lazard just signed for 11M/yr and this dud only produces about 500 receiving yards/year. Meyers just left on a very underpaid contract that the Pats declined to match. Maybe the front office is so stupid they thought Meyers wasn’t even possible so never made an offer. But then to turn down the opportunity to match makes zero sense.

This WR corps is broken now. Bourne is the only decent WR and not sure he can even run every route. Parker sucks and Thornton hasn’t proven anything.

HEY!!!!!!! I own a Honda Accord Sport! Thing has been rock solid. 2018 2.0/10AT. 91k miles and I have changed the rear brakes and the RF bearing. That is all. Looking for a used one just like it for my daughter.

But I prefer driving the Wranger and I would love the performance of the Tesla, though not the inconvenience of charging.

I never gave much of a thought to a Tesla, just another ev to me. I have a buddy who said you ain't been in this thing bro.

He picked me up 2 days ago and just holy shit. I love high end, high performance cars like Vettes, have my whole life. And I have a deep affection for Italian high precision, high performance of Ferraris, as I've explained may have a bit to do with my deep affection for my beautiful friend of Sicilian desent. But my God, his Tesla blew my mind.

Always wanted a 68 Vette L88. But that's just raw power and uncomfortable as shit. This Tesla was everything, power, performance, precision, the height of luxury. Hey, Sicilian chick, step up your game or I'm going Elon. :)

When does the Tesla phone come out and how many beers do I need to skip to purchase it? Hell, I don't even have to skip any, just have funds in a bunch of different accounts tapped for specific important things. I'm sure one of the accounts will forgive the loss of some friends if it's put to such a great use.

Tesla's are very impressive automobiles, aren't they? Mind blowing acceleration and so quiet you can hear a pin drop.

What I'm told is the Pats issue with Meyers is his lack of skills after the catch. The Pats want someone who can be more dynamic after the catch. A trade for a WR1 is expected.
