Random Football News: 2023

the nfl/owners don't g.a.f. about fans who go to games. the old school fans like us are disposable. they are interested in people who want to bet on the games be it fantasy football or betting on outcomes.
Very true! They never did, but now it's worse than ever. If it wasn't for raking in parking and concession fees, they wouldn't even know the peasants were attending games as they sit in their high owners' boxes.

Jimmy G went for foot surgery AFTER he signed with the Raiders. Unfit for OTAs and nobody knows the recovery timetable.

I bet he did.

For crying out loud.

Did he hurt his foot brushing his teeth?

I remember a number of years ago a story of a Boston athlete, Sox player maybe, becoming quite injured getting out of bed. 😆

I wonder what he’s looking for?

I was NOT on board with trading a first or 2nd rounder plus paying Hopkins.
But a four year deal with the first two years guaranteed……… I mean he’s probably worth a total of 32 million guaranteed for those for two years. Make the rest incentives, and structured so he can be cut after 2 years. He’s gonna miss some games, but that would give the Pats time to draft and develop a true stud next year.
I don’t know what NE can offer cap wise.

Sounds like he wants to be a Patriot. He said something like I don’t need a great QB. Just someone who loves the game. I believe defense wins championships.
Ha, welcome to Foxbourgh bud that’s the situation.

Rapoport said on nflta that pats(among other teams) were interested in a trade but couldn't work out compensation(picks and money).
Also, just as an aside, Bill Belichick's uncanny ability to assess pro player's actual value should give him his own wing as GM HoF. People rip on drafting, and that's, whatever, he's better than the average bear when it comes to that, even though that goes against 'the narrative'.

But what no one ever criticizes him for, because you can't, is his ability to place a monetary/draft pick value on an active NFL Player. The only time I can think of that he overspent draft pick-wise in a player trade was Sanu, and that was borne more of desperation than anything else.

He paid Steph Gilmore a record first-day contract, and he was worth every penny. He gave Revis one year on short money, and he was washed by the end of that season. Chad Johnson was a bust, but it was only a one-year deal. That's the sort of thing I'm talking about.

and...his ability to evaluate coaching talent is legendary. the patricia/judge fiasco is the exception that proves the rule.

I'm not sure I would let Parker go to get Hopkins. Parker showed a lot of promise with Mac at times last season.

pats have appx 14 m in cap space per nflta yesterday. they are top 10 in room i think. but kc has more.

Is it one or the other?
I think he was responding to me. I think Parker is, by and large, a waste of targets that can go to players that are essentially equal now, but have much higher upside.

Having him makes the team better. Having him with Hopkins will either make Parker redundant or dilute the targets to Thornton and Bourne.

I was really referring to the media reporting on this that all seem to say if the Pats get DHop then Parker would have to go.

There has been no official release of DHop so until there is no team can get serious about signing him. There's always the possibility he rejoins the Cardinals.
To me, when he is officially released, perhaps at 4PM today, the Chiefs make the most sense because they don't have a legit #1 right now and lost JuJu and Hardman who had a combined 100 catches last year. They need to make up those catches somehow and DHop alone would fill that void.
