Source: Chad Jackson released

I don't see them signing another receiver. The have Moss, Welker, Gaffney, Kelly Washington, Sam Aiken, and CJ Jones, plus Slater and Ventrone who both play special teams, and can also fill in at DB.

I think that the roster spot will be filled with another offensive lineman. They are thin there, and have a couple of guys hurt. I wouldn't be surprised to see them sign a veteran offensive lineman who was cut by another team, or re-sign Flynn or Welbourn.

Or drumrolll.....Ty Law?

Good riddance. Will the Patriots sign Chris Sims?
Doubtful. You do have the Simms/Belichick connection, but I think that the injury risk is too great.

You're not going to cut O'Connell, but you're not ready to play him either. Simms would have to be the number 2 if you bring him in.

The questions would be:
1) Is Simms better than Cassel ?
2) Do you trust Simms to stay healthy, if he has to play.

If they do bring in a vet QB, could also be Damon Huard who I think KC let go. He knows our system.

Nah Ventrone will most likely play that Troy role now. WHere IS Troy though?
Troy did not sign with anybody this year.

I think that he was basically done last year. The Pats carried him for the whole season, even though he never played. He was on PUP for the first half of the season, and didn't dress for the rest of the season. He only dressed for one game, and did not catch a pass all season. I think that they threw him a bone by keeping him on the roster, and paying him, out of respect for all that he did for the team. You only get one "thank you" year.

You're better than Cassel.

For 3 games? Yes, for a whole season? We're ****ed anyway.
I'll buy that.

The next question would be....
Is Cassel a more viable option for this season than Simms, based on having played in the system for 3 years, as opposed to Simms who would have to come in and learn the playbook from scratch?

I think that you have to regard O'Connell as the long term solution to the backup QB spot. The qusetion then becomes, who would be the better choice as a short term replacement for Brady, if the need arises this season?

Huard wouldn't be a bad choice, but he'll command some cash, compared to Cassel.

Guess he's now officially a bust...

He did nothing since getting drafted. Yes; He was BUST! WE made a mistake
drafting him.

Where the hell is SOKB? Tapdancing in the streets?

Probably, he's actually been right about him from day 1. Props to SOKB at this time.

Here's a few old threads, started by him:

A year late with this one below, but it is what it is.

...and of course, the ever infamous "The Official Is Chad Jackson a Bust" thread, which was bumped as recent as 2 weeks ago. ROFL

Again, props dude. You were right the entire time. I put down my Kool-Aide and salute you. I was wrong, you was right.

I'm man enough to admit when I'm wrong. I though he would/could have worked out, and OBVIOUSLY, that clearly wasn't the case. What a waste of not only a 2nd round draft pick, but 2 others that were given up to obtain him. This really sucks, and now you all know WHY I CAN'T FVCKING STAND DRAFTING WRs and HAVE ALMOST ZERO RESPECT FOR THAT POSITION.

The worst part is that they got Greg Jennings and Jason Spitz with the picks that we gave them...
