Neg rep for that? We here for the most part take neg rep seriously. That is to say we don't take it to mean I disagree, we take it as a serious token of serious disrespect from, say, you to me. We also probably think in general that it's a wiser course for new members to get there feet wet and pause while they get the sense of the culture. Not lecturing you or telling you how to post or react. Just explaining why I didn't appreciate the neg rep. Someone said the records weren't important and I pointed out that Brees may or may not (I don't know and I don't care which) have been wrongly deprived of retaining a significant record for a while longer.
