Jules is released, expected to retire

Edelperson cut. REALLY sucks his Pats career ended in this fashion. Nothing but love for everything he gave the franchise!

Dude got two rings doing absolutely nothing, but he feels he's a lock for HOF.

Even if it were the case, what does it have to do with Edelman? They don't even play the same positions. And Edelman actually earned those rings.

Someone here had mentioned that game, might have been Hawg. That's when you know you have a real baller. When it seems hopeless and a player does that. Defeats can sometimes throw up nuggets. Remember when we had that bad loss to the Chiefs in the 2014 season? Bill was surprisingly OK after it in the presser, he almost seemed chipper. Because he had seen fight in the 2nd half and saw the character shown and it led home to believe there was real hope in the team. And of course we went on to win the Superbowl.

It's getting tougher and tougher to decipher who is HOF material and who isn't. I know a lot of people point to Joe Namath (myself included) but back then he represented a pretty significant change in the QB position. You can't really compare his stats to people in this day and age. Same goes for current players. There are some many that on paper look like they have a pretty good argument for the HOF but when you consider there are way more players putting up those numbers, is it really that impressive? If you go off of stats alone, McCoy has a pretty good argument for HOF as does Stephen Jackson and Frank Gore. In my mind, none of them are quite worthy of the HOF though. I think people look at Edelman's stats and are like "no way his he a HOFer." I tend to agree that he isn't but it's much closer than those people think it is when you factor in his postseason heroics. At the end of the day, it seems like the HOF is trending in the direction of the Pro Bowl where it's getting filled with players who probably don't necessarily belong there but are there because the Hall feels like they need to induct a certain number of them every year.

wrt namath i think even compared to his peers he wasn't upper echelon. he may have gotten the same treatment eli will get ..."historic" sb win, decent qb, gets in.

Championships clearly matter for HOF consideration. I mean Troy Aikman was not a stellar QB if you look at stats. He's way behind in nearly every category. But he got those 3 SBs and had that status as being part of the "Triplets" so he got in first ballot with no debate.

It's not out of the question that Jules makes it in.

His early years doing kick/punt returns hurt his overall WR stats, and voters will look at his all time rank in Playoff stats as being due to playing with TFB, and for BFB. I doubt he gets into Canton, but f*ck them, he meant so much to this team in the Second Dynasty. He was $$ in the Playoffs, played whatever position he was asked, and was tough as hell. Probably my 2nd favorite Patriot of all time behind Troy.

The HOF talk came up so fast. Like, seconds after announcement. Not referring to here but in the general twiterverse and the sports sites this huge debate comes up. It's going to be 5 fucking years before he's eligible anyway. Can't it wait?

It's notable that so many take the occasion to downplay JE instead of just acknowledging what he has done. I take it as a sign that Patriot Hate is alive and thriving. Also, fuck LeSean McCoy, he couldn't just acknowledge JE and leave it at that, he takes the opportunity to promote himself. He belongs in the Douchebag HOF, on a unanimous vote. What a turd.

Epic superbowl performances than transcend all regular season stats SHOULD add bonus points IMO...absolutely! Call it the:
