Week 7 Gamete Thread - JETE

It is good news or, more accurately, hopeful news. I hope they leave Onwenu at RT and go with Karras at LG. Karras has handled himself pretty well
despite the general carnage.

Yes it is. Karras was our highest graded OL 2 weeks ago. He's grown up quite a bit seems to me. This news is encouraging

Lots of offering up of commentary in the press. Constant yapping all summer.
he held press conference, like every other coach. i watch pretty much everything related to the the Jets, pretty sure you’re wrong.

Ours for one. Yours is another. Vrabel. Mainly the old school coaches seem to get it. These Rex Ryan mouth runners are the worst. Arians is another. Some just like to run their mouth a lot and pat themselves on the back.
If you really believe he’s a ”Rex Ryan mouth runner”, it just shows you haven’t been paying attention.

Not trying to disrespect your wishes here or be combative....In all seriousness, can you show me where I personally attacked? I just re-read what I wrote and I am not seeing where I attacked her personally.

I confronted the disinformation. That's not really attacking to me. That's simply combatting the lie she posted. There are 4 people enabling that person above with SkipToMyLou's comment to me above. That's absolutely crazy to enable the bad behavior like that. That's why a troll would feel protected. The trolling will continue with that kind of backing.

You can't just be running around posting constant lies into threads to disrupt them and antagonize and act like that isn't the source of the problem. It's literally trolling 101. It's a lie, it's not a difference of opinion. The word "atrocious" means really bad. In no way, shape or form, has the run D been atrocious overall. Can it be better? Absolutely. They're middle of the pack right now. It's insulting to everyone's intelligence who posts here.

It's like saying 2+2=5. It's simply not true.

Seriously, I am not seeing where I attacked "Mazz" the troll. What would you do if someone came on here and said "Brady deflated footballs"? He didn't. Science, common sense and Goodell caught lying in a federal court said otherwise. I would look at disinformation like that as trolling, especially if the person kept using similar patterns of behavior. It has a clear intention to it.

I would love to know what the personal attack was here above so I can understand what you're meaning.

I think it's easy to say "my mistake, they're 17th in Run D", but that person never admits to not having the knowledge, so it has to be trolling. It's literally the stuff that gets repeated all over 98.5 (not that I listen) or on social media so people end up believing it at some point, when they shouldn't.

Agree, F The Jets forever. I hope they blast them 59-0 and take the momentum out to LA.

We ain't losing to the Jets, especially with that interception machine at QB for the JETEs.

I am not saying he's that level by any stretch, just that he's on that side of the ledger. Lots of yapping and self promotion all summer. Dan Campbell in Detroit was doing the same thing. Please, dude. You can either put your head down during the front of your rebuild and work hard and know it's going to kinda suck the first 2 years while not over-compensating at the podium or you can do what Capmbell and Saleh have been doing.

How many decades now have you been telling everyone else they're wrong as a Jets fan?

I like Onwenu at RT. When Brown is ready, I would support him at LT, bumping Wynn either to LG if Karras stumbles, else to the backup LT/LG where he can wait out his rookie contract. Then sign him on the cheap and keep coaching and waiting.

Brown's last year here he was absolutely dominant at LT, against both pass and rush. He gets slotted to the right side because of his build, button me he plays somewhat left handed. Always has.

Most likely to make a few bone-headed decisions: New York Jets QB Zach Wilson at New England Patriots

Davis Mills and Dak Prescott have certainly made Bill Belichick’s defense look awfully mortal over the past two weeks but just realize Wilson has a ways to go before earning the benefit of the doubt against just about anyone. He finds himself as one of just four quarterbacks with double-digit turnover-worthy plays this season despite that he's already had a bye week:
Unfortunately, Wilson has the fewest number of big-time throws (seven) from this group. It’s been far more bad than good for the 2021 NFL Draft’s No. 2 overall thus far. Look for a Week 7 home date against the Bengals to yield a slightly better environment for the rookie to flash a bit more consistently.

Most likely to keep improving the deep ball: New England Patriots QB Mac Jones vs. New York Jets

Last week I wrote the following about Jones and his issues with throwing the ball 20-plus yards downfield:

“Overall, Jones has completed just four of 19 passes thrown 20 yards downfield for 97 yards with zero touchdowns and two interceptions. The only quarterback even comparable to Jones when throwing downfield has been Jared Goff. Not exactly great company to keep, and problematic ahead of a matchup against Trevon Diggs and company.
It’d make sense if Jones improves on these sorts of passes as he 1.) gains more experience, and 2.) gets better downfield weapons in the future, but for now this inability to stretch the field will limit the overall upside of the Patriots offense.”

All Jones did against the Cowboys was complete all four of his passes thrown at least 20 yards downfield for 144 yards and a pair of scores. Some of this was certainly due to the Cowboys having their fair share of coverage miscues, but Jones also deserves credit for putting the ball where it needed to be, which expanded the Patriots' passing-game upside.

I think Thuney was carrying some of Wynns' responsibility on the left.

It's a great question. My theory is that he has a knee problem or something else that prevents him from playing as strong as he was. Or as agile. Wynn was a tank prior to this year who only needed some seasoning to defend against spins and fakes, etc., but he was all-day tough and very quick at trapping, driving and turning guys on running plays. He was plug n' play. Not so much this year. Gregory got into his chest on one play and waltzed him back like he was weightless and hammered Mac. There is something wrong with Wynn, but I don't necessarily see it as a coordination problem with the guy playing next to him as him unable to move or anchor on one-on-ones like he'd previously done quite well.

Thuney was great, no doubt, so maybe it's a contributing factor, but I like Flagg's idea of pulling him for Trent Brown. He's just not handling the job right now. Brown got moved over to the right side when he was with the Raiders because he wasn't as good as Kolton Miller at pass blocking. Maybe he can handle it when he gets back (!). He can't be much worse than Wynn, but the single most impressive thing Mac has done this season is take his beating without turtleing. He's still hanging in there, which is remarkable. If this shit keeps up it's going to be a big problem, because there is only so much he should be expected to take. Jones doesn't really look like a typical tough guy, but he is.

The rollouts versus Prescott were just brutal to watch. Over and over he drew us one way with a fake handoff, rolled the other way and then
just took his sweet time sorting through the open receivers. He's near the top right now and was deadly precise all night. If there was a silver lining
in all those yards was that we did make some big key stops at times and have demonstrated a genius for making the other team look almost
as ugly as ourselves.

Yes, the OL. I don't think you can fix it short-term. We'd need Trent, Shaq and Onwenu back full-time and hope like hell we can get one of the
3 remaining guys to play the other tackle with scheme help. I noticed Onwenu playing RT a bit which makes me think that maybe the plan
is to put him back there and ?????? Move Trent to LT??? Bench Wynn????? I don't know how many combinations we played against Dallas but
it was a lot. I don't know if it is due to desperation or we are actually experimenting under live fire. I've never seen so much in-game churn before
and it's sort of a miracle we put up 29 points behind such an amorphous front wall. What would happen if we had 5 healthy guys to get in synch
for a few games? Maybe some Fortyburgers with a side of Ws.

One thing I'd like to see get fixed is all the pre-snap penalties on offense. I found myself wondering if it's a matter of the O adjusting to Mac's
cadence and maybe reps will help, but there is no excusing those and EVERYBODY has gotten into the act at one point or another. We have yet
to play a relatively clean game. Only stretches where you can start to see what we will become when we can bust through and stop killing ourselves.
Brown needs to get out of the tub, and on the field first, before we can start moving pieces around.

I don't really know much about Saleh or what sort of HC he's been, so I'm not judging the dude, but I will says that he LOOKS the way a classic New York head coach is supposed to look. Shiny, shaved head and muscles in his ears. It'd be like if the Pats hired a white-haired guy with a scally cap and a ruddy complexion who went by the name "Sully". Like a regional archetype or something.

No offense, you understand.

Here's a question...What is an "abdomen" injury? Between that and the "calf" becoming new, trendy injury designations in recent years, I'd love to know what the hell they really are.

Is there a sniper in the tree line that takes a shot at them in the stomach during practice? What is it? And, how do 2 of our OL have it?

Torn abdominal muscles are painful and take 3-4 weeks then often tear again with use.

You’re really comparing Saleh to Campbell? Lmao. I’m going to have to ask you to provide some examples or even one example. I know you won’t because you can’t but I’ll wait anyway.
