Week 12 Gamete Thread - Titans

Honestly Super Bowl 51 was mostly about the Falcons choking IMO. There was so much they could have done to put that game away. It still boggles my mind how NE won that game. The Patriots could very easily only have 2 rings instead of 6 if you really think about it. They should have lost that tuck rule game. The crazy Malcom Butler pick. All the luck in SB 51. And Dee Ford being a complete idiot. But...in retrospect, both of those Giants SB's could have easily went our way also. And if Brady doesn't fumble it against the Eagles i think we win that one also. I guess it all kind of evened itself out. I'm extremely happy with 6...for now 😂
Totally agree. I fully realize the close calls and the Falcons choked, but what's funny to me is how Brady threw a pick 6 in the first half which was a 10 point swing since they were easily in FG range before half, and how the D closed the door in the last 20 mins of the game to hope they can set up that kind of an opportunity.

No not macs best. But 72% completion 2 tds no ints 123 passer rating. I'm good
What the fuck more can we ask for?

Don't let the Boston media drive some of you guys into heating him because he doesn't deliver six touchdowns in a 96% completion rate.

The kid is GREAT and will get better if we leave him alone and don't set his expectations on the moon. He's fine I'll take him.

The fact he had that stat-line without a solid running game and still considered not one of his best performances is basically the level of excellence that is expected from him.

I'll enjoy reading this tomorrow, but I just wanted to say that we beat the best team in the conference by 20 even after a blown defensive play which gave them a quick 7. The Pats are firing on all cylinders.

Interesting from MMQB today. You can see why Mayo's stock is rising fast.

But we’re starting with the NFL dynasty we were all writing epitaphs for in October.

(Suffice it say, it’s not even December yet and a lot of us would like a rewrite.)

If you want to get to the heart of how this is happening, McCourty will take you to something that inside linebackers coach Jerod Mayo—a seven-time team captain in his eight years as a player in New England—has said to his defensive players a bunch this year, something he repeated to them before the win over the Titans.

“Mayo said it today: Everyone play like a star. If you’re a role player, be a star in your role. If you’re a star, be a star out there,” McCourty said. “And I think that’s what this team is built for. Not just offense and defense or special teams. It’s a combination of all those things that come together, and everyone’s fulfilling that role. And when we complement each other, we know we can be a good team and be a tough team to beat.

“But it always comes down to doing that day in and day out, and then obviously on Sunday.”

The run defense has some improvements to be made. :coffee:

Not really. They had a bad day at the office. Wondering how dinged up the front is beyond guy. The Bye will be very helpful where it falls.

I was surprised both RBs went over 100 yards, though. It was really 2 long runs, but those chunk runs of 8 yards were bad, too. I was very surprised because it was obvious the whole thing was going to be about the RBs.

This is the first thing I thought of at the end of the game, outside of how overrated Tenn is and how the announcers spent 3 hours gushing over Vrabel as if he's Vince Lombardi. I thought I was watching a Titans broadcast. Of course, Ian Eagle is so annoying, he sounds as if any play could lead him to actually eating the microphone. He tries to make a 6 yard play sound like the game ending SB winning play. Ugh.

Anyway, that's the takeaway I had as well. Everytime the narrative zigs on Mac, he zags and then someone in the media needs to move the goalposts yet again, but the facts and eye test don't lie.

The whiffs of the day was the Henry miss and the dropped INT by Cole, which would have been bad. Overall, the red zone needs work on offense.

But, as suspected, Tenn doesn't look like an 8-3 kinda team. They finally played a team that isn't ravaged by injuries or hitting the wall and it showed.

NE's Ds won 4/6 of the SBs. NE's Ds got them into the SBs vs the Giants, but the offense forgot to show up in both. So, you could argue if they won 1 or both vs the Giants, the Ds would have won those, too.
Yeah I can play that game too. To be fair, are we going to count the ones when the D cost them a SB, or nearly did? The 2nd Philly SB, can the D just get one stop please? Thankfully McNabb was puking on himself in the 1st one when they drove 80 yards to bring it within 3, if they didn't take their sweet time who knows how that game ends. The D in the 2nd half when Indy finally beat them? 30+ points in the 2nd half, yikes, and please let's leave out the thermostat conspiracy theories. Not sure what else Brady could have done with that WR clown show, man that would have been a cakewalk of a SB. The Seattle game you're giving credit as a D win? lol That great Seattle D smelled blood and still couldn't stop TB in the 4th, and the Pats D almost choked it away if not for a stupid call by Carroll and a miracle INT. That Seattle offense was not that great, and was able to do pretty much exactly what it wanted. And let's not forget in that 1st Giants SB, as bad as the O was, Brady was clutch at the end and it was the D that choked it away dropping 2 INTs. So yeah the D gets a lot of credit in many of the SB's, but to say the Pats D won them 4 SB's is just silly to me. They were obviously the biggest factors in the first and last, they don't win the others without Brady, and could have actually won more if not for some choke jobs by the D.

Myers block on Bournes TD was a textbook way to block on that type of play in today's NFL. Had he gone hard any layed the Titans player out, he would probably been called for a penalty negating the TD.
He just got in the way of the player and it was just as effective as a hard block.
Very smart move by Myers, another UDFA gem found by the Patriots.
