(Preseason) Game Thread - Game 1 Pats v. Giants

assuming it's the Zappe show all 2nd half so lets hope he can improve.

I'm delayed near end of 2nd, but so far (off the top of my head) Wilson, Wade, Jennings, and Thornton look good. Ekule looks like he could be good if he could master some fundamentals.

Herron and everyone on D who is just refusing to wrap up look bad. JJ Taylor and Wilkerson are getting every chance to prove they belong, and not showing enough.

Man, if Wade really stepped up, that would be so valuable...

Thoughts on Lil'jordan Humphrey being a hybrid WR/Move TE? He seems to be running a lot of the Jonnu Smith routes.

Jack Jones flashing against the Future Insurance Salesmen of America crew.

Hoyer was sick?

Or?

Hoyer is a known quantity.

Zappe gets reps.

Hoyer wasn't great, he badly underthrew Thornton who had an easy 6, but he was ok. Zappe was, you know, ok overall I guess.

Some positives to take out of the game too, Wilkerson looked really comfortable after doing his juggling act early. Mack Wilson was frickin everywhere. So was Carl Davis.

Hoyer is what he is.

He either had covid or they told the known quantity to take the week off so Zappe could get reps.

This in NOT a knock on Hoyer.

Watching the highlights, the Run D was not looking too healthy.
Nope, it didn't, but it was 2s against 1s for a good part of the game. 3s against 2s. When Davis went out it was a big difference, I was surprised.

I didn't love what I saw either. Still some sloppy issues with technique on the DL from what I can see. I would like to see them playing with wider bases and lower stances.

Having the regulars in should help, though, and if Roberts can add some weight to his lower body I think we have a keeper next to Barmore.

It was nice to see an ILB (or two) who can cover further than where they're standing.
