Don't know if this is worth a sticky, but I thought I'd start a running thread for people to toss in thoughts on prosepcts for the 2011 draft. That way we can track them over time.

I'll start with an obvious one: Robert Quinn, DE/OLB, North Carolina. 6'5" 265#. Two time state wrestling champ. Brain tumor survivor, winner of the Brian Piccolo award for most courageous player in the ACC. High character kid, called a "player with no ego" by coach Butch Davis. Supposedly timed in a 4.51 40. Has broken all of Julius Peppers school records for strength/speed by a DE.

Here's a nice read:

The best 3-4 strongside OLB prospect I have ever seen, including Demarcus Ware.

Here's another: John Moffit, OG/C, Wisconsin. 6'5" 323#. 29 starts through his junior year (14 at LG, 15 at center). New England kid (from Guilford, CT). High character kid, strong enough to take on the NTs. Versatile.

Player comparison: Eric Wood, Louisville (now laying for the Bills)

I predict that 10-11 months from now he will be a commonly talked about prospect for the Pats.

Some early 2011 mocks:

1. NEPatriosdraft.com. Has the Pats picking 7th and 32nd and taking Iowa DE Adrian Clayborn and Notre Dame WR Michael Floyd (no way he lasts that long). Other notable picks include AJ Green (2), Robert Quinn (4), Mark Ingram (6), Jonathan Baldwin (8), Patrick Peterson (10 - seems low), Gabe Carimi (12), Greg Romeus (14), Andrew Luck (16 - very unlikely), Jeremy Beal (22), and Cameron Heyward (30 - ridiculous).

Other notable picks include AJ Green (2), Greg Romeus (3), Andrew Luck (4), Patrick Peterson (5), Michael Floyd (6), Gabe Carimi (7), Mark Ingram (10), Cameron Heyward (13), Robert Quinn (15 - no way), Jonathan Baldwin (16), Jared Crick (22) and Adrian Clayborn (30).

Notable rankings include Patrick Peterson (2), Robert Quinn (3), Cameron Heyward (5), Anthony Costanzo (6), Andrew Luck (9), Adrian Clayborn (12), AJ Green (16), Gabe Carimi (19), Nate Solder (22), Michael Floyd (23), Mark Ingram (26) and Greg Romeus (29).

Any way you look at it, I think there is a lot more talent at the top of the 2011 draft than there was in 2010. There are potential blue chip prospects in abundance at QB (Locker, Luck, possibly Ryan Mallett), RB (Ingram, Williams), WR (Green, Julio Jones, Floyd, Baldwin), OT (Carimi, Costanzo, Matt Reynolds, Joseph Barksdale), 3-4 DE (Heyward, Crick, possibly Allen Bailey), DE/OLB (Quinn, Romeus, possibly Beal or Von Miller), 4-3 OLB (Bruce Carter, Travis Lewis) and CB (Patrick Peterson). 2011 won't be nearly as deep as 2010, but it's very rich at the top.

One more: Jacquizz Rodgers, RB, Oregon St. (junior). 5'7" 193#. Had 639 touches in his first 2 years at OSU, so it's likely he will leave after this year. Rushed for over 1400 yards last year, but more impressively had 22 TDs and 78 catches. Terrific pass catching threat out of the backfield.

Here's some youtube clips:

Shades of Barry Sanders on the first run. I particularly like the TD pass out of the "WildBeaver" formation.

How about Marcel Darius, does he play the 5 tech for 'Bama ? If so he would seem like a good fit for us.

Where do they project BC's Herzlich(sp)?

Kid was an animal prior to cancer treatment. But by all accounts I thought they said he was back on track.

Reminded me more of a young Vrabel than anyone I've seen.

Good player. I haven't watched a lot of him but he reminds me superficially of Iowa DE Adrian Clayborn - both 6'3" 280# guys with great strength. I think they're both not the best 5 at the 5-technique, but both are outstanding players.

OT Marcus Cannon, TCU. HUGE athletic right tackle. Very athletic for his size at 6' 5 350 pounds. Would be great across from Vollmer.

Seems a little too easily caught from behind though.

Possible DE/OLB prospects for 2011:

1. Robert Quinn, North Carolina (junior). 6'5" 265#.

2. Greg Romeus, Pittsburgh (senior). 6'5" 270#.

3. Jeremy Beal, Oklahoma (senior). 6'3" 263#.

4. Aldon Smith, Missouri (red short sophomore). 6'5" 255#.

5. Von Miller, Texas A&M (senior). 6'2" 245#.

6. Cliff Matthews, South Carolina (senior). 6'4" 255#.

7. Sam Acho, Texas (senior). 6'3" 260#.

8. Jack Crawford, Penn St. (junior). 6'5" 256#.

9. Pierre Allen, Nebraska (senior). 6'5" 265#.

Lot of good prospects potentially coming out, including 6 seniors. Should be a very deep draft class. Good chance that Quinn comes out as a junior. Unlikely but not impossible that Aldon Smith comes out as a red shirt sophomore.

Profiles on DE/OLB Jeremy Beal from Sideline Scouting:

Jeremy Beal - Oklahoma (HT: 6'4" | WT: 288)
Projection: 2nd Round

Positives: Tied for 10th in the nation in 2009 with 11 sacks... Very instinctive, high football IQ... Has good strength and endurance to constantly get after the quarterback... Shows good technique and fundamentals, very coachable... Never gives up, makes plays all over the ability... Good change-of-direction ability... Battles and produces on sheer toughness alone... Has found ways to compensate for the size and speed that he lacks... Productive, was Oklahoma's leading tackler of the DL in 2008... All-Big 12 first team by the Associated Press last season... Great worker, spends a lot of time in the video room... Always looking to improve.

Negatives: Not a physical specimen, is not particularly fast or athletic... Though he has some experience, needs to develop as a 3-4 OLB... Is not a dominant run-stopper... Stock is likely at its peak, intriguing talent nonetheles.

Profile on DE/OLB Greg Romeus from Sideline Scouting:

Greg Romeus - Pittsburgh (HT: 6'6" | WT: 270)
Projection: 1st Round

Positives: One of the nation's best pass rushers, has tremendous burst off the line, shows a very good quick step... Good athlete, very good speed and quickness for his size... Uses his frame to his advantage, shows long arms... A big-time playmaker on the field, also will contribute on special teams... Is not even close to reaching full potential, still getting better as a player... Has added some strength for this season, did not appear to affect his quickness... Good straight line speed, has a nose for the football.

Negatives: Had nagging back injuries in 2008, seems to be behind him... Plays with too high of pad level at times... Needs to become more aggressive making contact with opposing linemen... Sometimes loses focus due to inexperience, has only been playing football since he was a senior in high school.

An interesting prospect to keep an eye on for 2011: Akeem Ayers, OLB, UCLA. Ayers is a red-shirt junior. He's 6'4" 252#. Last season he had 75 tackles including 14.5 TFL and 4 interceptions, with 2 returned for TDs. He has the ability to play 3-4 OLB and 4-3 SAM. If Jermaine Cunningham looks like he can play the strongside OLB spot then Ayers would be potentially a fine weakside complement.

Here's one of his interceptions from 2009:

There are a couple of really good QB prospects coming out too. Just sayin'. With Oakland's pick we have a chance to potentially draft TFB's replacement.
