2011 NFL Draft Day 2 Thread

Very nice highlights of Stevan Ridley:

The last kid who the Pats reached for 2 rounds higher than he was projected was some German guy named Vollmer. It's just highlights, but based on this Ridley should be a pleasant surprise.

Reality check. Thanks Ras. I love all of the real football knowledge here. I really do, but we all need to step back and remember that BB has won three SB rings and had the team in place for a 4th. There are THREE guys left from 2001-Brady, Light and Faulk and that could be ONE when this season starts. We have been SPOILED here over the last decade. BB knows more about football than all of the people on this board COMBINED! I have SOOOOO taken in too much Kool Aid. I am a homer. I have almost as many Patriot's jerseys as the team equipment manager. I love sports. I did not play football (125 pounds 5'6"). BUT football is by far my favorite sport and the Patriots are the only team I care about (admittedly I did like the 49ers in my youth as the Pats kind of blew for a while there). Until I had a child this fall I had not missed a snap (TV, radio or at the actual games) since 1997. (for the record I missed one series this year) I really love this team. BB brought SO much joy into my life and I am not going to turn my back on him now. I do not "get" all of the picks this year, but I am no expert either. I am just a fan...like most of you.

...and a 5th. NE would have demolished the Rex Grossmans had the flu and heat not worn down the D in the AFCCG against the stinkin Colts (up 21-3 in that sucker).

Amusing tidbit from Peter King:

I've got a great story for you to lead the draft weekend column. When Cal defensive end Cameron Jordan was taking a tour through his new business home -- the New Orleans Saints practice facility in Metairie, La. -- on Saturday, his cell phone rang.

"Hi,'' said the voice on the other end. "Jordan? This is the Cleveland Browns. We're getting ready to pick you ... ''

"Uh, yeah, this is Cameron Jordan,'' he said. "The Saints already picked me.''
There was an awkward pause, and Cameron Jordan said: "I think you mean Jordan Cameron, you're looking for Jordan Cameron. That's not me.''

Cameron Jordan, the 24th pick in the draft, then hung up the phone. And the Cleveland Browns, presumably, found the number for USC tight end Jordan Cameron, phoned him, and made him the 102nd pick in the draft.
Well, they're both from the Pac-10.

I like these highlights better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yY4Jpt48vTk

He looks like a young Corey Dillon. Impressive!

Funny, I think Shane Vereen looks like a young Frank Gore:

The combination of Bradford (or Kansas St. RB Daniel Thomas) plus either Rodgers or Vereen would essentially take care of the Pats RB situation. [/url]

So I wanted a big back along with an all-purpose guy who could integrate in with the receiving game. Ridley and Vereen fit that bill perfectly.

I see that the two new running backs are going to have to fight over who wears 34.

Glad Ayers is gone.

OLBs for today: Reed/Acho
tomorrow: Eddie Jones/Markell Smith

I did have Markell Carter on my radar pre-day three. Called him Markell Smith though....pretty sure that guy doesn't exist.

Also called Cunningham last year for the same reasons, albeit Carter being far less likely.
