2023: Higher or lower than the crowd on...

There’s no question in my mind we will have a Top 5 Defense and if they stayed Top 2.

if pats key D players stay healthy, I expect D to do well, although the schedule being as tough as it is (at least with what we have to go on before these teams play this year) it wouldn't surprise me if the D looks good to us but stats aren't that great. BB will likely still go "bend not break" thus yards given up may not look good, but points is what matters.

so Higher on D but with the above caveat
Higher on O because Matty P gone so how can't it be better.
lower on O-line until proven otherwise

Is there any reason to believe the OL will be any worse than last year? Last year they rated basically middle of the pack, in the 11-20 range depending on rating and metric.

They have 4 of 5 starters returning, and the 5th looks likely to be the same revolving door that was there last year, more or less. Plus Andrews and Mac are free to adjust protections again. Minus some coherence from practice time, I guess, but maybe offset by it being the second year for those 4 together. Plus likely improvement from Strange.

Other than that...seems like the panic is mostly stemming from the OL not being available to see in preseason, not that anything got fundamentally worse somehow...what am I missing?

On the plus side, they no longer have Matt Patricia as the offensive line coach. It seems like people forget that he was in charge of it last year as well.

Low: Chiefs receivers

High: Lions making noise in the North and maybe taking division

With Fatty Matty's shackles off of Mac/Andrews and his overall stench off the O, I'm expecting it to be better, but until we see it in action it's an unknown.
I'll be the first one back in this thread giving them Kudos if they perform well over the season (hell, for a game, for a series).

Lower on offense than most here. I think the oline is the weak link for the team. I think the offense will be better than last year, but will be glitchy. Hope I'm wrong. Play calling will be key t keep these guys from getting exposed.

I'm concerned about special teams. New kickers always scare me.

I'm in agreement with Pats defense being the keystone of this team. They will be called upon to keep scores low.

Outside of Pats, I think the Bills take a step backward and the whole AFC East is overrated - other than the Pats.

Lower:
Bengals - I think they will rebound but man, did they look awful.
Denver - Wilson still does not look like the Seattle version at all.
Eagles - they were so lucky to beat us yesterday. They never looked in sync on offense and their defense could not defend the bunch formations.

Higher:
Commanders - I like Howell. They may actually have a decent QB finally. Also the ownership change was palpable both on the field and in the stands. Their defense is legit good too. They will be in every game this year.
Oakland - Liked Jimmy G and how about Meyers? Had a great game. Hopefully he is ok after that awful hit he took late.
Miami - Tua and Hill looked awesome yesterday.
Bucs: Mayfield looks really good. I can't believe they beat the Vikes. Best win of the week save for the Lions beating the Chiefs.
GB: Love just took the baton from Rodgers and is off and running. Loved what I saw from him and their defense. And I know Da Bears stink but that is what you do to a bad team, you pummel them.

I'm higher on our rookies. They played pretty damn well yesterday. I want to see a lot more of Douglas against the 'phins. (If Boutte gets the left foot down, we probably win that game.)

Higher:
Washington Commanders - they appear to have found a legit QB and paired him with EB. There hasn't been this much excitement in DC in years!
Dallas - I know they beat both NY teams who are a joke BUT their D looks unbelievable and Dak is really slinging it.
Tampa Bay - Kudos to Mayfield. He is thriving down there the way Tom did.
Ravens - they are so injured yet are 2-0.

Lower:
Bengals - they look really off this year and Burrow tweaked his calf yesterday. They are already 2 games behind the Ravens and down one game h-to-h.
Chiefs offense - Kelce was not the magic panacea they thought he would be. They miss EB big time!
Chargers - how this team continues to find the worst HCs to coach such a talented roster is beyond me.
Denver - one more loss and Payton is going to blow his stack. Oh, Wilson is toast too.
