2024 Olympic Games

Kerr came out at halftime with a lineup of Curry, Booker, Holiday, Lebron and Embid. That's exactly one guy who can play defense, and he's 6'4" and you have him playing the fucking 3. Is losing the Olympics worth freezing Celtics out of the game? Watching Curry and Booker try to play defense is a fucking embarrassment.

At least Curry and Embid are scoring, but that doesn't excuse everyone else. Oh good, Durant's in for Booker, lets bring in the older guy who can't play defense. The offense is 'Curry jacking up 3s'.

Since I have started watching, team USA has tied the game. Just sayin'... They also look really slow and tired.

US men butchered that 4 x 100M relay final. Terrible changeovers. Carl Lewis is going mad about it.

Brilliant Gold for the the US's Rai Benjamin in the 400M Hurdle final.

I liked the Olympics better when it was restricted to amateur athletes.
I mean, the Olympics haven't been completely amateur since the 70s. Unless you're talking about the US exclusively, in which case, why should we be the only country taking that debuff?

I was born in the mid 1950s, so I remember quite a few of the amateurs-only Olympics. Of course, even back then, the Soviet bloc countries had full-time "amateur" athletes whose only jobs were to train for the Olympics, so it wasn't an even playing field at that time. But it was better then than it is now, at least in my memory.

Am I the only 1 pulling for France to win the Men's basketball Gold?

I realized tonight, that one a team with guys like LeBron, Curry, Durant etc...his biggest strength is his biggest weakness. He defers and doesn't demand the ball. Always looks for the best pass or shot. Works like a dream in the NBA and why they won a title. No mistake, he was a major, major part of why they did. In Tokyo he was a stud and one of the main guys, but the above outside of Durant iirc weren't there. And he is a different player now.

I watched the first quarter of the US vs. South Sudan and was rooting for Africa.

I like events that feature people that will be lucky to ever make any real money in their sport as opposed to watching LeBron dunking
over a guy that is a delivery driver somewhere.

I'm not saying there aren't happy moments for a lot of deserving athletes out there, but I just watched a Japanese girl win the Gold
medal in break dancing to a hip-hop version of (of all things) "Horse With No Name". You can't make this shit up.
