2024 Rookie Camp, OTAs, Minicamp and Summer Practices

Ju ju’s knees have been shot since he was a steeler. It’s been widely reported. I certainly wouldn’t trust any statements from him. I got called an idiot for saying this last offseason. He needs to be cut as soon as possible. There’s enough cap space to absorb any dead money. Let the rookies get playing time.

Yeah, I heard that this am. Unfortunate for him and for the Pats that they can't depend on the guy. The Pats have known that for a while so they drafted a G.
Time to move on if he can't fully recover.

I'm not going to argue that Strange hasn't been disappointing and he appears to be one of the prime poster boys for Belichick's failed drafting philosophies that
ultimately led to him losing his job.

It's just that he was off to a really bad start last season coming back from his '22 injury, but fought through it and was playing his best football yet when the knee
ended his '23 season and it appears like this offseason will likely be Groundhog Day for him. It's a damn shame because his skillset is ideal for a team looking to run
a zone scheme and, when healthy :insane: he is simply a tremendous athlete who has major potential. I could also point out that the rookie Guard we drafted hasn't
done a damn thing yet and Atonio Mafi was terrifically bad as a rookie in '23. We aren't exactly loaded across the IOL.

My fear in all this is that Strange will ultimately end up on the outside looking in and will end up becoming a pro bowl guard for somebody else, but I
have to believe that he will be given every chance to recuperate from this even though a large majority of our fanbase thinks he's made of
glass, was a terrible reach by Bill and we should cut our losses. Unfair? Perhaps, but frustration often manifests in unfair judgements and it could
be that everybody that thinks that way is just being practical.

Wouldn't it be ironic if he ends up in LA playing great for Sean McVay? The same guy that laughed when we drafted him in the 1st? Maybe they
could become Strange bedfellows.

Since You want the pats to eat 15.166 in dead cap. To get rid of Juju & Bourne. Who do you have the Pats carrying at WR ?.
The rookies, pop, Osborn, thornton, and Bourne if he’s able to come back.

Ju ju would be my first cut followed by Bourne if needed.

What strikes me most about Patriots' camp is how little information is coming out to the public.
Bill was secretive but this is next level.

Maybe some of the lack of information is an illusion. The Pats haven't done much in the way of roster shifting and changes.
I'm used to Bill churning the low end of the roster relentlessly this time of year.

OTA Notes [Non-Padded] (5/29):

𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲

• Drake Maye threw an absolute DIME to Tyquan Thornton on a 35-yard deep ball along the sideline. Thornton had to slow down to catch it.

• Drake Maye connected with JuJu Smith-Schuster along the sideline after hitting the DBs with a pump fake to create separation.

• Javon Baker impressed during 7-on-7s today — Baker high pointed a ball along the sideline and made a toe-tap snag between two defenders and he also made a great contested catch with defenders surrounding him.

• Tyquan Thornton had some really nice routes/catches while repping with both Jacoby Brissett and Drake Maye.

• Pop Douglas has been looking really good and he stood out during 7s and 11s — his route running is amazing and he also had an awesome diving catch on slot fade while in double coverage.

• Jacoby Brissett and Drake Maye split up for 7-on-7, which allowed Maye to a significant amount of reps with his own unit — both QBs put on great showings and the ball rarely hit the ground.

• Atonio Mafi (LG) and Michael Jordan (RG) were the first two guards today.

• QBs began practice doing footwork and accuracy drills.

• Bailey Zappe struggled with accuracy all day and was visibly frustrated — he badly missed Javon Baker during 11s.

• Absent — Joe Milton, Cole Strange, Sidy Sow, Zuri Henry, Jake Andrews, & Kendrick Bourne.

𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲

• Kyle Dugger and Mikey Victor allowed a 40-yard catch along the sideline — Drake Maye squeezed it right in between the two DBs.

• Alex Austin clamped up rookie Javon Baker on a hitch route and tipped the ball up, resulting in an interception.

• Isaiah Bolden showed off his athleticism when he recovered and broke up a deep outside pass intended for Austin Hooper.

• Jaylinn Hawkins intercepted Bailey Zappe during 7s.

• Marcellas Dial had a nice PBU while guarding JuJu Smith-Schuster.

• Marco Wilson got mossed by Javon Baker on a deep 50/50 ball during team drills.

• Absent — Matthew Judon, Joshua Uche, Christian Barmore, Davon Godchaux, Sam Roberts, Jahlani Tavai, Sione Takitaki, & Jonathan Jones.

𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀

• Chad Ryland went 4/5 on field goals — his only miss was from 43.

• Tyquan Thornton and Javon Baker got reps in as gunners.

• Bryce Baringer had some great punts today with his longest hang time being 5.27s.

Steve Belichick, Patrick Chung, and Ivan Fears were also in attendance today!

HC Jerod Mayo singled out Keion White when asked if anyone has been a pleasant surprise so far.“Keion’s doing a good job for us and I would say also, Keion’s kinda taking that step forward as far as being a leader. Not as much vocally, but you see him actually leading the groups and working well. […]His versatility — he’s always been a strong guy, but I would say he’s even stronger now. He’s doing a good job and he’s here each and every day. And in the meeting rooms he’s actually kinda talking and leading those conversations, which I think is important. We always talk about that year two jump — that’s the biggest jump you can have.”
