Based on what, exactly? What did this group do during the offseason during free agency to impress you ?

I love the offseason personnel moves. It’s going to take at least another offseason of good decisions to get this team back to contention though.
I believe that nowadays in the modern nfl 75 percent of coaches are pretty sharp. What matters is being able to identify and collect talent.

They didn’t panic and overpay guys like Calvin Ridley.

They kept the young guys worth keeping on defense and are building a culture that can be here the next decade. Guys who are gonna buy into the rebuild.

They had the best draft in 20 years.

And did nothing for the O-line. Still have what, $50 mil in cap space?

They’ve done mediocre work so far. The draft was definitely solid.
But building a team is done in free agency as well.

Going through all of it doesn't inspire me at the moment, but I'd like to point out that the offseason isn't
over yet, so I'll hold off for a bit.

The best thing I've seen about the new regime, aside from taking Maye, is just seeing the way the players seem
to be adapting to everything thrown at them. The energy has been there and the tackling has been extremely sharp. You
can see guys look like they can't wait to hit somebody. There are young players who got rewarded for starting their
careers well and others who are developing and don't seem to realize that they suck and the team has no chance.

Free agency wasn't loaded with talent that fits where we are now at the right price. I can't think of a single move the staff
has made that annoyed the shit out of me and much as I loved Bill, he would have done that 3 or 4 times already.

It's all vibes and impressions, I freely admit that, but I like the program so far. The operation seems really good overall. This
is a team that only needs to fill a couple of glaring holes and add some depth at others. Some of the guys that were
supposed to be bubble guys are really coming on. Raekwon McMillan? He's playing like a star and I've never been
impressed with him. Every DB is dropping his guy on the spot.

One guy I'm trying to decide on is Jerry Springer or whatever his name is. I like a little fire, sure, but this guy seems to
be a bit overly gung ho. I've already seen more of him than any ST coach in the history of the team. It reminds me of how every
week the camera showed Rob Ryan and his silver biker hair more than whoever his HC was. Fucking TV is predictable,
isn't it "Oooh.....you have to love all the intensity and facial expressions!!!!" I'll take a poker-faced coach who can scheme
up a way to take advantage of the new kicking rules, thanks. Those are the guys that players listen to and don't tune
out, but in the spirt of new beginnings I'll give him a chance. Besides, if he turns out to be a poser, we can always fire
him and hand the job to Slater.
 
I've also been very impressed with the tackling, esp. by the DBs. They are swarming and often there are 2 DBs ready to hit any receiver who catches a ball. I haven't seen
that in a while so it's very noticeable. Peppers is leading the wolfpack. That guy is sending a message by hitting hard and often.

For me it still comes down to the lack of moves on the O-line. There were several good tackles available that they didn’t even approach.
I do like what they did in terms of keeping most of the talent, and I agree that there weren’t really any head scratchers, though I may out Okorafor into that category, although he kind of made sense at the time.
I actually wasn’t impressed that much by our secondary in the three training camp days that I attended. The Eagles were tearing them to shreds, although that of course is one of the most talent WR corps in the NFL.
They’ll be good as long as Gonzalez lives up to his talent as a #1 CB. If he doesn’t, they’re really in trouble in that area.

This was a good building blocks draft. We will see how well .The Rookies perform this year. They didn't fix the big issues of Protection & Seperation. Unless one of returning WR's step up

I’d agree no one wanted to come here.

I would say that the biggest issue was QB. I don’t think the line was as bad as everyone thinks. It was bad, but a good QB, even an inexperienced one will make that same group look a lot different.
The guys making decisions decided to grab a good QB, good secondary WR options, and an OT who at worst will be a versatile good depth option and at best will be an average starter.

There are only so many draft picks. It’s hard to do much better than that. This rebuild was going to take multiple good drafts. Not free agent signs, but multiple good drafts.

This offseason was a damn good start at digging out of the hole.
 
Mayo will know QB1 by Monday. LT Lowe injured.

it does seem odd, but maybe Wolf's final say isn't really the BB version of final say, but sort of
a confirmation of an organizational consensus or something. I mean, GM is generally above the HC on
most totem poles.

They may be trying to make sure than one person never again has the power to veto what, for instance, your scouts are all telling you
about a guy and we end up drafting too many stiffs too high. This was supposedly something Bill did now and then and although
specifics are thin I wouldn't be surprised if it were true. That would explain a lot.

That's a fair point and I might end up hating the new structure, but am willing to sit back
and give it time. I'm sure the Boston media will attempt to fan any perceived friction into
massive brushfires if they can figure out whether they prefer to harpoon Mayo or Wolf.

They'll ask Mayo about all of this when he announces the starting QB, I'm sure, and see
what they can stir up. They're going to find out that Mayo is not going to be their pull toy.
 
The more I hear from AVP the more I like him. I love this new committee approach to running the team. It seems like all the coaches are on the same page and will hold together through the inevitable rough waters.

And Brisset has earned the opportunity to get a few starts even if Maye is ready. This team isn’t going anywhere. Give Maye a few extra weeks, or until November when Brisset has a few down games and then get him in.

But we need to see Maye after Thanksgiving. Absolutely 100 percent he needs to be starting after Thanksgiving.
