2025 Draft

Mason Graham at 4 would be such a waste of a draft pick. Even if he turns out good (and he likely will), there is so much DT depth in this draft, burning pick 4 on one seems insane.

Edit: Also he came in way underweight at the combine, 296. If you're getting a DT at that weight, you're expecting a pass rusher (which he can do, but he's not off-the-charts at it), there are better pass-rushing DTs that you can get, and get later in the draft.

Looking at a couple of mock drafts, it looks like up to 7 offensive tackles could go in the first round.
And if the Pats want in on two decent OT’s they will need to trade up into the first, prior to the Chiefs or higher.

According to Bedard, the Pats front office has admitted to drafting for need last year and reached on most of their picks.

The more I get into this draft the more it makes sense to trade back. There are just to many great options at the back 1/2 of the first that aren’t that far off the guys going at the top.

If that happens, the chances of getting an absolute stud D-Tackle or EDGE player goes up dramatically.

Honestly, other than Carter and Henry, I've had difficulty finding any draftee who is definitely worth the 4th pick in the draft.

I'm having to get away from historical "worth".....the only was to get that value is if Hunter/Carter falls......otherwise you just have to look at the 10 or so guys with a first round grade and take the one you like best.

I know RT isn't normally a #4 overall position, but if we get the LT in FA, there are worse things than solidifying both Tackle spots

One possible solution to this quandary (not having a top 4 talent available to you when you have pick #4) is to find a team that does think there's a player worthy of that pick, and engineer a trade with them for the #4 pick.

There are 31 other team's scouting departments and talent evaluators who will have different grades on players than what the Patriots have, so there might be a buyer for that pick.

The best case would be having multiple buyers, especially if they're QB needy teams, of which there are many this year. If Ward, Carter, and Hunter go 1-2-3 in some order, there may be a team that's willing to move up a few spots to grab Sanders, especially if they think there's a team above them that will snare him first.

If he’s more like Mike Evans than N’Keal Harry, that would be swell…☕
This can't be true. Curran, Perry, Breer and Giardi have told us every, single night for months on Early Edition that there isn't one potential draftee nor one free agent anywhere who wants to come here under any circumstance. Not one.

Maybe last year…

I did a lot of reading last night on the WRs in this draft.
As bad as the “elite” options are, it sure looks like there are 10 to 15 guys who could be great number 2 or 3 options. I think a lot of guys who go in the late 2nd to mid 4th are going to be making valuable contributions in the league for awhile.
I’m really hoping they can trade back into the 2nd half of the first.
Unfortunately the strengths of this draft don’t seem to line up with the needs of the Pats.

I think they need to do enough in Free Agency to give them the flexibility on the draft where they don’t have to pick primarily for need. They can help themselves enormously if they have multiple options.
