2025 Mock Draft Sim

I see Hunter as a WR first.
Thats the million dollar question right?
After spending the last month really digging on this I do not. His ceiling I believe is very similar to Devonte Smith. That’s a good WR, but the guy could be a top 3 Corner in the league.

He's quicker than Devonte Smith, he can stop-go and change direction faster than Smith, he accelerates quicker than Smith. I like Smith but Hunter is a tier above him. IMO.

I've come full circle on Hunter. I was initially excited by what I saw on both sides of the ball. I liked him better at CB. Then I was kinda down on him at WR. Now I think his ceiling at WR is very high. His instincts running routes are amazing, but his technique is raw. If he actually learns the position he could be really, really good without being physically dominant. Probably never the most dominant WR in any given year, but consistently in the top 5 over his career. His ceiling comp, to me, is Marvin Harrison Sr.

Don't forget his ball skills and hand-eye coordination for catching the ball. The guy is phenomenal the way he contorts his body to get into position to catch a ball.
And that's with Shedeur as his QB! He saved many of Shedeur's slightly errant passes from being incomplete.

FTR, I see his WR comps as Justin Jefferson and good O'dell Beckham.

I suggest you do some more digging then. He's nothing like Devonta Smith.
The comp is 'a sightly faster Justin Jefferson who's also a lockdown cornerback'.

The Pats have the QB. Even if Hunter is Jefferson, which I doubt, but even if he is…….
If you have the Oline right, a QB, a defense, the pass catchers will be fine.
Trade back if he’s there. A team will give up a lot for him.
It’s not like Jefferson has won the Vikings a ton of playoff games. Calvin Johnson doesn’t have a ton of playoff wins to his name.
I don’t know if any top ten pick is worth it these days unless you’re drafting your QB.
Because the Pats routinely pick all star WR’s in the draft…right?

I 100% disagree with this. I like you, you’re a cool dew…but when you have the rare opportunity to draft a potential game changer at WR, you don’t trade down for more mediocrity. You pick him asap.

LT later on in the draft.

No brainer pick
Especially when it's starting to look like the three teams ahead of the Patriots are going to fuck around and not draft him,

Cam Ward will eventually be an average starter in the NFL. Abdul Carter will be the 3rd guy on the graphic of what next week's Monday Night game is. Shadeur Sanders will probably bust unless he somehow ends up behind a good teacher, and has good coaching.

There are like, 5 starting tackles in the draft, and some will be available in the 2nd round, I'd be shocked if they all go in the first. There is exactly one game changing WR and lockdown corner in the draft, and it happens to be the same guy.

Well I hope y’all are right about Hunter. It's very likely he’s a Patriot next year.
Unfortunately, I think his frame is a major red flag at 4. Picking a WR there I want a guy built like Brain Thomas Jr., or Malik Nabers. Not a guy who’s generously listed at 185. He’s about Chris Olave’s size who’s about to be out of the league after one or two more big hits. Highlight reels against crappy teams in the Midwest aren’t making me feel better.
If he’s there though, and it looks like he will be they will probably take him. He’s not going to be a bust. He will be the best WR to wear a Pats uniform since Eddleman. But you could say that about other guys in this draft who will be second round picks.

He's literally the same size as Ja'marr Chase and Justin Jefferson.

What 'frame'? Did someone say that to you or something? 6'1" 190.

You want to talk about frame issues? Abdul Carter's 6'3" 240, and is supposedly a full-time edge player.

Jefferson and Chase are respectively 10 and 15 pounds heavier than Hunter is on paper. 10 pounds of muscle is lot. I say on paper, cause I think he’s 185 on his best day after chugging water.
Neither Jefferson nor Chase look slight of frame on the field.
If you’re saying Hunter is built like those guys we are gonna have to agree to disagree.

Then we will, he's the same size.

All three of them have longer arms than Campbell though. :coffee:
