2025 Mock Draft Sim

So this is my first mock attempt, and I thought I had it set for the whole draft, but apparently I only got 3 rounds, but I kind of like the results.

With the recent noise about the Giants wanting Hunter, I decided to play as if Hunter was who the Patriots decided they needed at all costs. Generational talent and a position of desperate need at WR.

By all accounts, the Browns want either Carter or Sanders. By moving down 2 spots, they can either, depending on what the Giants do. This puts the Giants in a tough spot because of how high of a talent Carter is, but how much money they already have devoted to the position. So maybe they take Sanders and Cleveland still gets Carter at 4.

So here are my first 3 rounds, including the trade, and the reach I did in round 2 for positional need.

I'm not really a fan of the trade up. But If you believe Carter/Hunter are the 2 big dawgs ,Why not go get one?

What, no edge? :coffee:
I figure you can use White as a swiss army knife, have him play inside and outside, and you still have Chiasson in pass rushing situations. Pegues is a big fat fatty 1-tech, and we need one of those.

I'll be honest, there's no real edge in this draft that floats my boat - Gillotte from Louisville does intrigue me as a development project.

I like Golden but I think 24 is too high. I'd consider taking him if he's there with our 2nd round pick but even there I think other positions would be
more beneficial for a couple of years than he would be.

This.
People cry about Travis Hunter being small.

Golden has at least 10 pounds on Hunter is 6’0, and is not being considered at 4.
Would you rather have Hunter, or Golden and another 2nd rounder and possibly more than that?
I’ll take Golden and the extra picks.

Hunter. All day long.

Two things,
By picking Hunter you're saying that the "6th" rated tackle is what you want for the season.

With a trade down (of limited degree) Vrabel gets to add more Vrabel type guys.

I don't see it as a slam dunk pick.

I'd argue there's not a ton of difference between the '1st' rated tackle and the '6th' rated tackle, and none of them are worth Pick #4.

And sometimes, as in the 2000 draft, a player can be the 7th player picked at his position, and turn out to be the best player of them all. And not just in that draft - in all drafts.

Pre-draft ratings are useful, and usually the best players in the league are taken in the first three rounds. But lots of players taken in those rounds also turn out to be busts, or JAGs.

Some players peak in college, and when they get to the pros and are playing against fully grown men who have been training for years and know a lot of technique and have put in the work, well, some of those hot-shot college guys decide they've had enough, and just take the money from their rookie contract and try to hang on for a while on minimal effort using only natural ability. And that doesn't work for very long in the NFL.

From this perspective the Pats are in a decent position this year. As it turns out, Campbell is my favorite OT this year, and Ersery (roughly the 6th) is my second favorite.
