2025 - Workouts, OTAs, Rookie Camp, Training Camp & Preseason

Yeah, with him already being (probably) the best pass-blocker on the team at RB, there's a damn good chance he starts and shoulders a lot more of the load than people think.

You don't draft a 3rd down back at the top of the 2nd round.
I'm really excited about Henderson. The pass blocking is great for its own sake, but getting the reputation as a fierce pass blocker has additional benefits because it allows for easier/better sale of leak routes where you engage as a blocker and intentionally let the rusher through and leak into the open spot he's vacating. With his explosiveness...

Picture this: 3rd and pass,11 personnel aligned 3x1 with the TE on the right at the LOS and the sole WR left in a short split. TE stays in to block the right edge, 3 WRs all flood the right side. LT and LG focus to their interior, and Henderson's responsibility is to engage and slow the edge rusher coming from the left, then leak by him into the flat or on a wheel route. CB on that side follows the sole WR from that side, and the OLB/DE is coming on that edge rush. The off the line LBs are shifted to the strong side of the formation. Henderson is in a footrace I'm pretty confident he can win: to the corner vs an MLB who would have already taken steps towards the other side of the field. Other than that, it's the deep/weak safety down the field.

If he wasn't a legitimate blocker, this doesn't sell as well - the interior LB is more likely to track him, and the edge rusher might even sense it and peel off to cover. But if it's not unreasonable that they would trust him to block an edge rusher because there's film of him doing it...

...I need a shower.

The difference is Dobson was expected to be productive as a 2 round pick. Larson is an UDFA who could really be a surprise starter at some point.
Larson best chance to make the team is Special teams. He would need a monster TC & Preseason. To even have a chance to take carries away from Top 3 backs.

Larison is likely to make the team over Jennings and as a core STer. He doesn't need to show much. His path is pretty easy as it's very likely the staff keeps 4 RBs. I'm hopeful that he opens some eyes and a true RB committee shakes out with percent of carries split something like 45/35/15/5. Where presumably Mondre and Henderson in some order are getting the lion's share, but which RB takes which percentage varies by the opponent/game plan.

Larison, WR Chism, TE Dippre, FB Lampe, and DE/OLB Ponder are all very interesting to me, but the others are up against a numbers crunch. Dippre and Lampe, especially, are quite possibly going for the same spot. From a broader perspective Larison, Chism, Dippre, and Lampe are all trying for the same 1-2, maybe 3 spots.

My guess is that Lampe is not on the initial 53 because the risk of losing him from the PS is so low. Some other team would have to decide that an undrafted rookie fullback that would have to learn their system and go directly onto their active roster for several weeks was worth it. How many teams even use fullbacks at all?

Chism's performance has been shouted loudly so far, and if it continues at anything close to this level he'll be hard to sneak onto the PS. Hard to say much about Larison, Dippre, and Ponder at this point. Dippre and Ponder can't do much except avoid eliminating themselves until the pads go on.

Aaron Dobson had a fantastic college reel, as well.

Not really. He had 1 spectacular catch but other than that he was below average. His scouting report also said "0 drops" but that was wrong. I counted 8 drops his senior
season. I was very surprised the Pats drafted him and even more surprised where they took him. UDFA Kenbrell Thompkins was the better receiver.

That catch against the Saints. A standout play in a decade full of them.

He didn’t last though. Why not? I can’t remember.

He's slower than you.

He wasn't fast, but he was fast enough (4.52 40). Bill should have cut/traded Dobson instead of Thompkins who had a great release and ran better routes than Dobson. But Dobson was the 59th pick and Thompkins wasn't drafted. Neither did much in their 3 year NFL careers so it didn't matter either way. Hard to believe this was 12 years ago.

Zolak's call on this play solidified his career and made him a lot of money.

BRADY'S BACK!!! THAT'S YOUR QB!!! UNICORNS, SHOW PONIES!!! WHERE'S THE BEEF?!?

Mini camp next week is open to the media, but not fans, right? Fans can't go until late July, and there are no pads until...early August?

Yes the good old twice a days, both in pads.
Cheers, :toast:
Damn it I was trying to fix it . The twice a days are long gone . We will see if they live up to all the hype in the preseason .
