AJ Brown

Didn' t you see Diggs in the playoffs...well, I guess no one saw him, but I meant didn't you notice the absence of anything resembling a decent WR? We had him, he was great, esp as a Maye mentor, but it's the mark of a crap-ass team that signs and pays a player for what he used to be able to do.
We don't need 2020 Diggs. That's why we traded for A.J. Brown.

We need 2025 Diggs. The guy who caught 85 passes for 1,013 yards, became one of Drake Maye's favorite targets and emerged as a locker-room leader.

Nobody is asking him to be the focal point of the offense anymore. Brown is WR1. Diggs' value is giving Maye another veteran target who knows how to get open, move the chains, and come up with key third-down catches that keep drives alive.

For a one-year deal, that's exactly the type of proven veteran contender teams bring back when trying to make another title run. Plus it also pisses off Bills fans! LOL

I think Diggs got a bit of an unfair rap for his 2025 postseason. It had as much to do with the terrible O-Line play, which resulted in Maye getting banged up and playing poorly. Hell, I might blame Josh McDaniels for not making proper adjustments before I pinned any blame on Diggs.

But it's a moot point, he's not re-signing in New England.

Perhaps but...Remember Cecil Cooper in the 1975 World Series? I know his strong bat got us there, but 1-19? Sorry, I'd buy an old Cecil Cooper 17 jersey on ebay and replace my spacecrime avatar with a picture of me wearing it before I'd welcome Diggs back. I loved Cooper in 1975 regular season and 50 years later loved Diggs in the 2025 regular season, but on the biggest stage with the pressure the highest, they both choked.

I am certainly not putting Diggs on a pedestal, I just the Patriots offense collectively got punched in their mouths. If the O-Line played a little better, perhaps Maye would have played a little better, and perhaps Diggs, and on and on. It is more than 1 or 2 guys.

It was more than just bad play by the O-line. We all know about Campbells knee and the issues the Center had with pressure. Jared Wilson was playing out of position as the LG this year he is where he should be at Center. We shall see who ends up filling the LG position. We seem to have more depth at O-Line that we had the last few years. There was also the issue of May's shoulder injury. Yes Diggs faded at the end of the season and playoffs. However he was just coming off a major knee injury and I would guess that added to it. Brown did not fade in the Eagles season. His QB did. The Offence looks to be in far better shape this season , remember they were a top 5 Offence last season and not just because of the schedule. I have seen some nice additions on the D as well. I have good feeling about this season. I don't expect it to be 14-3 again but a 12-5 season is possible.

To me the biggest problem in the SB was the inability to run the ball.
The were consistently in tough passing situations.

They made no in-game adjustments to fix the issues with protection on the left side or find ways to get the wide receivers open. You could clearly see the defense being very physical with Diggs; they relied too much on defense forcing mistakes and turnovers. To give the offense a short field.

That's not why we lost the Super Bowl. We went in with a poor game plan. That may be true….. but remondre had like 27 yards rushing. I can’t remember what Henderson did.
Against a def like that you have to be able to get into 3rd and 5 situations.
Now when it was time to pass the protection wasn’t there and guys were not open.
But the complete inability to run the ball forced them start throwing on first and second, and even if you’ve got great protection and pass catchers, converting 3rd and longs on that def is not easy.

I was at a cookout last night and my buddies were roasting me on the pats giving up a first for AJ.
I was like I know, I know, but they are gonna get one good year out of him….. this guy said I’ll bet you 100 bucks he doesn’t break 1000 yards this year.
:) I took the bet. With witnesses.

Smart bet if it was contingent on no injuries to AJ or Maye.

No….. and that’s what he’s banking on. AJ missing 3 or 4 games.
And he might. But if it’s not a season ender he should get to 1000 even if he misses 2 or 3. It’ll be close though.

Ben Volin sucks harder than Diana Russini.
